I'm not a NYer either but I'm on team "anyone but Cuomo"

Was the US on the verge of fascism under Joe Biden or did I miss something?

I don't like Ethan really, but these streamers basically do nothing all day but minimally react to copyrighted material and it's about time someone at least challenged them on it.

Anything at all to completely absolve themselves of any responsibility.

I still can't believe people are making the argument that large influencers in leftist spaces have 0 impact on anyone outside their spaces. As if their speech is quarantined.

Pioneers in explosion technology.

If a person moderately on the left but not engaged sees a Hasan Piker stream where he says there's functionally no difference between the parties and that they're all genocidal war mongers, they're not going to vote.
comment in response to post
Again he lives in a world where the online left only exists with other online left and not in a greater political ecosystem. If a regular person sees engaged politics people all saying the Democrats suck and are garbage, they're going to internalize it.

Andraste was a nug, confirmed.

I don't even know what point they're trying to make here.

Because of course I'm advocating for politicians to not pass laws 🙄 For fucks sake.

There isn't one. The work of democracy is to win elections.
comment in response to post
Joe Biden had a barely held together majority and got more done than the GOP has with a bigger margin.
comment in response to post
That we should win some fucking elections.
comment in response to post
It takes a lot less "juice" to tear things down. The conservatives barely have majorities now and they're destroying everything they touch.

All of that can be revoked. Anything passed by a law can be rescinded by a law.

When the largest of X does Y and no one on that side does anything about it, then they're okay with it.

Bernie dead-enders said Pete Buttigieg was only gay for clout. They are absolutely 100% not better than this.

Then you literally have no principles. You only want the things you do because it's trendy to do so, you have no philosophical or moral framework for what you believe.
comment in response to post
Republicans are a fascist party. This just means that you want fascism but for the things you like.
comment in response to post
There is nothing really in that article that wasn't already common knowledge. These people are only regretting their actions now that's its "trendy" to do so.
comment in response to post
It's the kind of thought process that comes from not fully understanding their own philosophical and moral positions. They're on the political left, not because of their own reasoned beliefs, but because it's trendy.

This also applies to how people think the government is run. They're all against authoritarianism until they think it can directly benefit them, then they want it solely for their causes. See: every time Biden was stopped by the courts or Republicans from doing anything good.

He's been like this for years.

Orange Manbadder is actually my favorite Gundam character.

Today is a good reminder that the US is great not because of our leaders but because of the people.

From what I understand calling the leader of the country "Mr. President" was seen as a huge departure at the time. It signalled that our leader was not divinely chosen, but was a regular person elected into that position.

I think it's the fact that through the sheer circumstance of birth that someone can be born greater than someone else. The idea of America is that we are all created equal, which means no one is created greater.
comment in response to post
Fascists not understanding art is common. You are very stupid after all.
comment in response to post
That's defending them, you fascist piece of shit.
comment in response to post
I dont believe you. When you defend Republicans you become a fascist. So shut the fuck up.
comment in response to post
I mean you like Trump so that makes you a fascist.
comment in response to post
Yes.
comment in response to post
Shut up fascist.

Noem is the kind of person who learns about phylacteries from Harry Potter.

These people are profoundly stupid.

The dragon age subreddit has been especially toxic to the Veilguard devs and basically none of the information in the Bloomberg article is wholly new.

For the record it's not as morally complex as the acolyte is, it's basically Jedi competence porn.
comment in response to post
I really liked the first book for what it's worth and think it's actually better than the Acolyte is.

The difference is that Finn crashing wouldn't have saved them and Holdo crashing did save them. That's the point.
comment in response to post
DJ represents what Finn wants at the start of the movie, he doesn't want to take a side and thinks it's pointless. Rose represents what he needs, to believe in the cause. Finn taking up arms against Phasma is exactly that, he's rejecting DJ's ideology.
comment in response to post
It's not a regression. He has absolutely no reason to sit around and fight what he feels is pointless. He's not taking up arms to help his friend, he's picking a side. That's why when he does it he says that he's "Rebel scum".
comment in response to post
They're an anti fascist organization. They're primary goal is opposition to the first order. Finn doesn't leave the first order because he opposes fascism, he leaves because he hates fighting. It makes perfect sense for him not to want to fight at the start of TLJ.
comment in response to post
It's not a retread, caring about other people isn't the same as caring about a cause.
comment in response to post
It's good to piss those people off, yes.
comment in response to post
John Boyega can be angry about the trilogy all he wants. I think it's perfectly valid for him to feel like his character was sidelined and squandered. I don't agree that it was TLJ that did it though.
