I also thought of Murderbot as female. But that's probably related to my own internalized expectations for binary genders, not your excellent writing!

I have two Gen Z sons working blue collar jobs. They have bank accounts with local banks. No crypto, no online BS.

Thanks for your thoughtful reply. You're right. My broad comment about perspective-taking oversimplified the impairment related to theory of mind and cognitive empathy. Sounds like you share my frustration with people who blame neurodiversity for psychopathology and personality disorders.

Autism =/= lack of empathy. People with autism struggle with social communication, understanding social situations, recognizing social cues, and understanding other's perspectives--not empathy and kindness. That's some other kind of psychopathology.

Champing is different than chomping. Champing at the bit implies eager to go. Horses don't chomp down on the bit when the rider prevents forward movement. They usually toss their heads, mouth the bit, or rattle it in their teeth.

Not a book, but one of my favorite gifts this year. During football season, we can wear our favorite team gear on casual Fridays. I know what I'll be wearing!

Our GSD also chewed a hole in the couch--but at least it was the old couch. And so many cords. Charging cords, ear buds, a printer cord, a heater cord. He's lucky not to be electrocuted. Our Dutch Shepherd makes better choices.

I bought the book when I got my first dog thirty years ago, and it's still my go-to approach to dog training. Not just techniques, but a philosophy. (And I have always had very good boys .)
