Asked they're viewer M/O. Many people said they want things halfway or more before starting, since release times are so long. Quite a few book readers that were not super happy with changes, but every single one agreed they wanted it completed.

Ill have to check that out. I know Swear has a ton of patents, but im not sure they conflict or maybe are just two separate solutions entirely. Glad there are solutions evolving.

Without info or any real knowledge of things, seems like they finalized the decision when they canceled, and it is just done. Which crushes me. But it sure seems like Sony also just decided to shelve it.

Amazon simply isn't a quality company. It's entirely about volume and numbers. Creative and quality companies like Disney or maybe Apple as it evolves and seems to care are those that see projects through. Sony surprises me, since it's smart enough to see the long-term royalties. A decade later.

I love both. Im amazed by both. Im grateful for both. The same story, told in two ways. I get two stories, not just the one I imagined. Why people malfunction when something isn't exact is sad for them. Adhering to one pure story. I wouldn't mind a third, in some future. Maybe that's animated.

I've read the books a lot. Fully series 11 times since I started in 1996. It's one of my favorite series of all time.
That said, I've watched the series 7 times to completion (so more for the first season than the last). Each time, there are details that amazing. Costume, sounds, the set, lighting

Many people haven't read and won't read the books. For that reason, the only real way to create something is to try to balance both. Watchers need to care, understand a uniquely complex world, and be able to follow. As it is, even adapting what has been means rewatching is a thing. And fun.

Now, the series.
Yes, huge differences, lingering on characters for development. I love that. It's different, new. For that, I get an entire new story, with familiarity of the one I love.
Why some people can't love both is beyond me. It is nigh impossible to translate that much content.

Imo, future potential shows may need to avoid these partners and go with Apple or HBO. Those that can commit and help succeed. Contract negotiations should indicate "lack of renewal commitment by xx date should default to pursuing other studios".
