My suspicion is that much of the political press has found a comfortable nook for itself in the new right wing world. All they have to do is see what bubbles up on Twitter and then pretend to report on it as if it was reality

Should we deport people who have lived here for many years without committing any crimes? 61% no, 24% yes.
Should we should deport people as quickly as possible even if it means more mistakes, or do our best to make no mistakes even if it takes longer?
Quickly: 19%
Minimize mistakes: 74%

Here's the trillion dollar question: will the poor and middle class care next election cycle? Will they care in the cycle after that? Because this is the usual Republican stuff for the past 45 years. And they never paid a price for it. And they know it.

I guess not having to face another person is worth a premium to many people. I find that worrying. Crazy Uber drivers notwithstanding.

Exactly that. Republicans see no reason to not just redistribute money to the rich. They've been doing it for decades and keep getting reelected for it by the very people they are screwing. Because what about those guns. What about those brown people in that river

I mean this is the party that won 3 elections selling "trickle down economics". They know that the American public can be made to buy a fantasy if you wrap it up just right

This is the party of the working class! I am sure they'll be thrilled to finally stick it to the elites 🤣

So basically the law works as intended. I expected nothing less from the party of the working class.

Trump's language about how he might "have to force" interest rate changes seems bad though. The Fed is politically independent. www.ft.com/content/87a2...

Trump's usual tactic of trying to drag out legal proceedings to get away with something has paid off once again. The appeals court set 7/31 as the date for hearings. By then a huge amount of damage has been done.

Apart from the Musk problem I have my doubts that these robotaxis are safe. It takes a long time and solving a long tail of problems to get autonomous driving right. Waymo spent years training their cars with human drivers, gradually expanding range etc. i have seen a robotaxi on the street.

And no, the poor will not now be fine because they get to make plastic toys and frying pans in American factories. For those jobs to pay a living wage these products will have to be so expensive that without major redistribution their own workers won't be able to afford them.

Exactly that. Thinking import taxes will somehow "make the economy work" for lower income people doesn't make any sense. They'll suffer the most since they spend the most of their income on consumption.
If we aren't willing to tax the rich then taxing the poor won't make anything work, either.

Prostrating himself before Trump will not save Tesla but it might make Musk a lot of money from SpaceX. These pesky consumers are an annoyance. Better to directly pocket taxpayer money

I keep hearing about folks who seem to actually have believed that Trump would only deport criminals. This is hard to believe. If you committed a crime while not a citizen you were always deported. If this was what you wanted it was a nothing burger. That's never what people like Miller talked about

Authoritarianism is not a political idea. It is beakdown of the prosocial morality that underlies the rule of law. That's why they are all the same. They are basically a collective sociopathic regression. Reversion to humanity's dickish mean.

Or at least spend some time in their basement to see their side of things
