For what it's worth I've definitely learned something from you in several of these categories. Did a great job showing me I knew far less R than I thought I did when I tried to recreate some of your data art stuff.
Sounds like shit sucks right now. I hope it gets better

I use Chirp and they've been pretty good so far. The selection isn't as good as Audible though

Look around. What do you see? Shoe repair shops. Have you ever gone into one? Do you know anyone who's ever gone into one? Have you ever met a cobbler?
Take the shoe pill and stop sleepwalking people! There's a battle for the sole of the national happening right under our feet!

Interesting. Can't see the full text but curious to see how many associations were tested. Also I wonder how one might look at the number of years of experience for the surgeon and anesthesiologist. More years of exp probably correlates with more dyad opportunity and better outcomes

Two Hand Path and Delve by Anna Blackwell are probably my favorites

6 ft tall lava lamp sounds like a home version of the great molasses flood of 1919 in the making. Where do I sign up?

Well I'm mainly on here when I should be doing something else, so focus might be getting a boost from the sampling bias here

Oh sure the physicists get their own break room now

I wish we thought more about: distance to nearest hospital. How walkable is the area? Neighborhood character and political leaning. How long we think we'll stay (informs other stuff)
I'm glad we thought of: Heating type and options. Internet access. Age of roof and major appliances. Dog readiness

I haven't made anything that's 'out there' yet so like, grain of salt, but had some of that recently. What solved it for me this time: give up and work on other hobby, then stumble back into it. Man Alone's podcast + Quinns quest's recent Delta green review brought me back in most recently.

I've been thinking about getting into electronics or something solely to make something like this as I have always wanted it

Well put
This reminds me of credit cards also. People use them to get rewards -> Shops pass on fees to customers -> everyone pays more, but especially those without credit cards -> more people get credit cards -> repeat

Unattractive. Something about the bright colors on the tan background maybe? Or maybe just their contrast with the b&w

Got bored at work and did another 10k simulation showing number of hits to death, as well turns to having any box checked off in 'Incapacitated' and 'Grievous'

This is interesting!
Just for fun I ran a 100k simulation. Looks like in this setup most of the time you can take 11 hits before going down at 78%. 18% go down in 10, another 3.6% in 9 hits. The chance of going down in 6 hits is about 0.002% (so 1 in 50k)

If everyone just started publishing in the conspiratorial voice the actual conspiracy theorists might get tricked into actually doing their own research

My 2¢: I would watch the hell out of some youtube videos on that kind of thing.
You could also offer some kind of consulting / mentorship thing on a case by case basis

I never considered calling in a complaint about honking before. Kind of surprised people were. I feel like you'd be on the phone constantly

My folks have been looking at buying a local tea shop business since the owners are retiring. The tariffs ratchet the risk up a lot. They may still do it but it went from an easy decision to one with a million question marks and asterisks

Augh. Rig, not Rift

Seconding Rift. Addictive and challenging. A bit more board-gamey than other solo TTRPGs though

This idea rocks. Given my browsing habits i'd definitely get a good amount of replay opportunities
