Reading a history of media coverage of the US Panama invasion with my husband (romance 🌹), chatting about how gross it was. The US is the abusive step-parent of foreign relations.

I want everyone to know I defeated avoidance for today and scheduled my overdue follow-up MRI for brain tumor removal. Scheduler was like “yep, it says you were due back in 9 months and your last one was in June ‘24.” “Yeah, I didn’t want to.” “Fair enough.”

🧵I mention this, personally, because it’s getting warm enough that it feels like the time of year I was told I had a brain tumor in 2023. We’re early (found out July), so it took me longer to clock it as that. All the same, I am noticing increased reactivity and somatic stress. Upon inquiry - yep. 🧠

My character: “I have an idea!” Me, the writer: oh thank god, I had no idea where this was going #amwriting #firstdraft 💙📚

Something I ask therapy clients to rule out when their mood is off - is the anniversary of something difficult approaching? Is the weather feeling like it did? Is routine something like it was, at the time? Allow compassion for the body feeling on edge when external things feel familiar enough.

A Smoky Mountains creek in May. 🌿

Easy, slow run this morning with frequent stops for mulberries and dewberries. I love spring.

Book 23 of 2025. Liked it a lot. That epilogue had me like “Let’s GOOOOOO” Would continue to recommend this series, which will be no surprise to anyone. #booksky 💙📚

Go on a Mother’s Day walk, find some treats. 🌸

Book 22. Very quick read, and some lovely thoughts about considering where we can seek to give for its own sake. Read for a “whimsical book club” I’ve recently joined. Nice counterbalance to my own “bummer book club.” 😅 #booksky 💙📚

I hate what is happening. Respect for the courage it took to stand up to masked kidnappers.

HAPPENING NOW: Newark Mayor Ras Baraka was just taken into custody while protesting outside the Delaney Hall ICE detention center

Morning run bestowed free mulberry snacks, these guys, and an elder woman who stopped me to tell me that I am a “STRONG WOMAN!” I told her thank you very much. I do my best. #running #mushroom

Nothing to do with October 7. The escalation of Israel's genocide had been planned since 2017 www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Seemed like y’all enjoyed Icelandic sheep so here’s another photo from that same hike (couple days later). One of my favorite moments from that hike. #hiking 🐏🐏🐑

Galloping right on through this series. I like it! The pacing in particular is really pleasant, I’m noticing. Stressful stuff happens, but it’s balanced well with “oh cool, they resolved it. Ooh, meaningful character interactions!” And it builds in intensity nicely. Book 21 of 2025 ✔️ #booksky 💙📚

Hey, lovelies - if you're worried about milk with the FDA no longer testing for contamination, these three places do 3rd-party testing: Aldi Kroger (Fred Meyer in WA) Costco

NY17 Constituent and local social worker Emily Feiner was singled out and forcibly removed during Rep. Mike Lawler's town hall.

Apparently my Great Depression era grandfather could do one-armed chin-ups, and I am glad to know that’s part of my lineage while also feeling like that’s a lot to live up to. #familyhistory #fitnessgoals?

Look at this guy. As my toddler would say, “That’s a good guy.”

Got 3.3 miles in before the thunder started, and I feel very good about it. No today photos because it was focus time, but another poster reminded me of Iceland so here’s a kinda rainy photo of Icelandic sheep. Taken on a long hike. Posted bc I wanna. #running #hiking

I wrote a short story about this, more or less. A society in the near-ish future in which serfs exist to fulfill the whims of ultra rich overlords. A programmer gets creative with his AI project. Free to read. 💙📚 #politicalsatire

the jobs of the future, where you will be a hereditary serf producing goods for your betters

Getting nervous, tbh Getting pretty nervous And every time I try to put together a list of what else I want to stock up on, financial anxiety hits next. Like can I afford to stock up on this and still pay for everything else this month? I imagine that’s not a unique experience. #tariffs

Book 20 of 2025. April is Kingfisher month, looks like, and I am on the White Rat train now. Toot toot, I am enjoying it. Law and Order with paladins and magic. This was a lot of fun. Onto the next! #booksky 💙📚

Hi good morning what the fuck

Got to run by so many roses today. Stopped to smell several of them. It’s important.

Book 19. Devoured it. As always, the research was woven in very well. The exploration of PTSD reminded me of my time interning in the PTSD unit of the VA and had me nodding along. And the ending is 🤌 #booksky 💙📚

Catch and release, but with quartz crystals.

Yeah so (circling back) follicular has me like, “Not everyone has to like me, it’s chill. I don’t like everyone, why should everyone like me? In fact, if they get the wrong impression, it’s actually on THEM hahahahahaha” Worth noting for any future networking events.

Ope… 👀

This has been one of our household’s intentional “observe beauty” videos lately. Humanity can also be gorgeous, and remembering that gives us something to move toward (rather than only feeling disgust/fear/anger and trying to go away or against).

Book 18: Technofeudalism by Yanis Varoufakis. Very relevant and very worth a read or listen. A discussion of how we pay rent to cloud overlords, how this could have happened, and how we might begin to resist. #booksky 💙📚
