Is it really possible for anyone to be this feckless? Can a group of politicians really have so little moral backbone that they can simply watch the federal government abuse the citizens and not know what to do? Why do they even need polls and strategists now - when federal abuses are so clear?

Yes. This is the mindset that decent people oppose - this kind of callousness to the cruelty of the administration. This is what divides us. This way of behaving and all who carry it is what we oppose. And we will never not oppose them, will never unite with them. 1/

Hey, @rfhgina.bsky.social! Listening as always, just wanting to maybe clarify why trans folks are asking people to boycott the new HP, even knowing it's not going to happen. Ms. Rowling is using her money to fund anti-trans orgs and legislation. 1/? www.advocate.com/news/jk-rowl...

Should probably be said periodically - the Trump administration is the most openly racist administration of my lifetime. It's vile and abhorrent - you cannot be a decent human being and not despise and reject them.

Anger is the appropriate response to unjust cruelty. Anger might be expressed in different ways But it should be expressed People should be real Authoritarians will meet expressed anger with escalating violence It's what they do The nation is being set up for... trouble

It's a winning issue with the people who only see snippets of Fox News or other right-wing media, and don't have the time, energy or skills to properly analyze what they're being told. A winning issue with Trump's base. It's a major losing issue with others. This is further dividing the nation.

Timely reminder that courage is not the absence of fear. It is doing what must be done, even and especially when you are afraid.

Okay so now that I'm not trying to cross a border, I've got some tips on how to make sure protests stay safe and peaceful.

Trump finally telling the truth... Wait, whatdoya mean he's not talking about LAPD/LASO?

And nobody is spitting. They're making that claim because no evidence would be expected. Any claims made by police and/or the Trump administration should be treated as fabrications absent compelling evidence.

Every time I hear, "...just doing their jobs", "...just following orders" or anything like it, my mind jumps to Nuremberg. Would be good if everyone else's did, too.

What? Nazis unrepresented? Fascist point of view goes unheard on Bluesky? Why that's... that's... That's good. Some points of view should not be heard, should just be rejected and abhorred.

not the main issue here but i'd really appreciate it if democratic politicians spoke out in support of big-city life and culture with the same energy and reverence that all politicians have for small towns los angeles is "real america" and so are all the other big cities the president hates

Something that isn't said enough - immigration is a great good for the United States. The xenophobes are doing us a lot of damage.

It's hard to overstate how destructive the reflexive "this is a distraction!" stuff that politicians and commentators and people are always peddling. Everything is happening all at once. That's how authoritarianism works. If you can't navigate and synthesize this, you're not meeting the moment.

Counterpoint: Everything the Trump administration does is a threat to democracy.

Rand wants *real* cuts to medicade, medicare, social security. You know - those government programs we've been paying for all our lives.
