The libraries make e-bikes more accessible, reduce VMT, and advance climate goals. The study, led by @johnmacpdx.bsky.social and supported by funding from @oregondot.bsky.social, also produced an online resource to keep track of existing progrmas: the U.S. E-Bike Lending Library Programs Tracker.

The tl;dr is: forest restoration is important but the land area available for it is 70-90% less than previous analyses have indicated, and what you think should be restored depends *alot* on your thinking about managing tradeoffs between different biophysical and social goals.
