This is also the point behind ending birthright citizenship. Trump wants to define who is and who isn't a citizen on his own terms. Democrats sure aren't his kind of citizen. Once there is no baseline definition we all agree on, "citizenship" becomes an ad hoc ruling by whomever is in charge.

It is hard to understate how silent Democrats went after Biden won. The right filled the vacuum with bullshit and aside from an obscure message or two from the White House, the GOP dominated. It didn’t have to be but Democrats don’t believe in comms. That’s a big reason we are here.
