IF THE SITUATION WAS HOPELESS THEIR PROPAGANDA WOULD BE UNNECESSARY

Solidarity with LA. Solidarity with Chicago. Philadelphia. New York. Solidarity with every single protestor standing up, putting their bodies on the line to protect our people and our freedoms. Not everyone can put themselves in harms way & so it's up to us to help how we can. Find a way to help.

I love my city. I love our people. The first uprising I experienced was in 5th grade. We can hold each other. I believe in us. We are bigger than a man trying to prove his power against vulnerable people because his pride is wounded from a hissy fit with another billionaire.

“Your silence will not protect you.” - Audre Lorde

The NYTimes has played and continues to play an essential role in facilitating fascism in America. Who forced them to legitimize and platform this craven, white-supremacist opportunist calling for massacres of US residents protesting against racist state violence? No one.

It's going to be a long hot summer.

There is no bigger story right now than the White House asserting that California residents are in a state "of rebellion against the authority of the Government of the United States."

The fearmongering has worked. People don't believe that using the funds taken from police to increase resources would reduce crime substantially more than policing does EVEN THOUGH MULTIPLE STUDIES SAY OTHERWISE. We are governed by fear and vibes. The anti-science agenda isn't new.

All this talk of emergency is an emergency in itself. The road to authoritarianism is paved with this trope—the dire pending calamity that only the strongman has seen, and which only he can solve. newrepublic.com/article/1920...

He hasn’t even been in office 6 months and this is where we are.

California representatives did a check in where migrants were being detained. They found no beds, no food and no water. Children were among the detained.

A state's Guard has not been federalized like this over the governor's objection since 1965.

What’s happening in Los Angeles is unsettlingly familiar if you recall militarized police violence in 2011, 2014, and 2020, but it also feels like something is about to break open

Gentle reminder that immigrants are more than their economic worth. Immigrants are more than their labor. Immigrants are more than their work ethic.

i just want to point out that what’s happening in la right now — local law enforcement, even in a sanctuary city, directly working with ice to round up immigrants and attack protesters — is *exactly* why people get so angry when protest organizers insist that they will cooperate with police.

The most striking thing about the LA protests is how many people just dropped everything to show up and yell at federal agents. There are people in suits, and carrying dogs, and wearing flip flops or bike helmets. These are not people who planned to do this today. But there they are.

kind of just endlessly sad and grieving that there are so few voices in the public sphere making the basic principled argument that immigration is an affirmative good in every way and the best way for this country to serve humanity is to welcome people who want or need to leave their homes

What we're seeing in LA is just the start. This is going to be a long hot summer. Prepare accordingly.

borders and states aren’t real, anybody who wants to stroll into the U.S. should be able to do so whenever they want, I don’t fuckin care

I mean

"These are real people with real families" cool when they come home do they tell the kids about how they busted up an elementary school graduation that day

Pretty clearly setting the stage to use the Insurrection Act to crack down on domestic protests within the US.

“When you make this a private entity, all those guardrails that are supposed to be in place for law enforcement and prosecution are no longer there, and we don’t have the tools to do what we do, which is hold people accountable.” www.themarshallproject.org/2025/06/07/a...

Any day now tho. techpolicy.press/austerity-in...

What a bleak timeline we live in.

So much fucking tear gas. DHS going nuts right now. This is happening in your sanctuary city “Los Angeles”

re: folks suggesting “we” call the cops on ICE—

Any bias we currently have, AI will scale it. That's it. At BASELINE, Black applicants are denied mortgages at a rate 80% higher than white applicants. Outsourcing approvals to AI will WIDEN the gap, especially for Black women who get the worst deals in home loans. This is #TheDoubleTax.

Wait this isnt NYT pitchbot? They really published an ethicist column asking if it was moral to make money leasing to an ICE holding facility, and the answer was yes? LMAO laying it on a little thick even for you guys

@swenson.io hey!

Oh is it “dude posts about ephebophilia not being pedophilia and questions why we even have an age of consent” o’clock again?

BREAKING: SCOTUS conservatives block discovery relating to DOGE as part of a lawsuit over public records requests into the entity. The action was taken over the objections of Justices Sotomayor, Kagan, and Jackson.

Help me I’m not good with numbers. Is it the sign of a bad economy when people have to finance their groceries?

That Dems are running after Elon Musk tells you everything about the state of the “opposition”. The man is a white supremacist, but they are willing to excuse that for potential money. They have no values they won’t shed for the rich.

Opinion | I have no meaningful relationships with Black people, Hispanic people, government workers, or women. Here's why Democrats should make a full push for Elon Musk to join their party.

My latest in @theguardian.com. It is not the nations on the travel ban that are a threat to US security. It is the US that robbed them of their wealth, destroyed their institutions & environment, & then denied them participation in safety built at their expense. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

More Solomon Burke this morning 💕 m.youtube.com/watch?v=Edaz...

The public meltdown happening between the world’s richest man 🙄 and the President of the United States 🙄🙄 once again begs the age-old question: are men simply too emotional to be in positions of power?

must be incredibly frustrating and disheartening to have federal funding that was promised to you for important work suddenly and arbitrarily ripped away

We did not have any of this drama when Joe Biden’s clone was president.

Cheese you can rely on. Cheese that will pick you up at the airport.
