The CDC data ends in 2018 and CDC has stopped updating its website
But over the past 50 years, we've had sizeable gains
What has driven the progress?
1. Less malnutrition
2. Vaccines
3. Better healthcare for kids
The MAHA commission misses all this progress

Treaty has two provisions
But the pathogen access isn't much of a lever
And cajoling nations to do tech transfers won't help the poorest countries
So what will help? The African Union has an approach that will likely be far more effective

All of these groups of people -- members of our community, count on high levels of immunity to protect them
And when vaccination rates fall, the risks rise for all these vulnerable individuals
Which is why we all have to work towards building more vaccine confidence

Who else is vulnerable?
Remember that kids get their first dose around 12-15 months so before that, they are all vulnerable
Children who are immunocompromised because they are undergoing chemo for cancer can't get the vaccine and are vulnerable
Immunocompromised adults are likely vulnerable
