At this point I would honestly be surprised if the US administration would install someone not primarily on grounds of Trump loyalty.

True enough, but stupidity like this, is well in line with adding relatives and journalists to chats containing classified information, installing unsecured internet in a secure office and caring more for a makeup room than any of this other stuff. Not sure which side Occam’s razor cuts here.

Wait. What? Lol, my security game is miles above that of the American Defense Secretary. What a tool!

Found it, Dec. 8, 2024: „President-elect Donald Trump said in an interview with “Meet the Press” moderator Kristen Welker that “you have no choice” but to deport everyone who is illegally in the U.S., including possibly removing the American citizen family members of those deported.“

There was an interview in December where he clearly said that he intends to do this. Not sure if there also weren’t similar comments before the election.

Invite some Russians over while you are at it. They are lovely people to have as guests. /s

So, Trump was elected with the promise to solve this in „1 day“, that was quickly changed to „one day“ (but we aren’t telling you which) to swiftly be upgraded to „never mind“. And it looks like basically all his promises turn out like this. Who would have thought that loudmouth can’t deliver?

So lay back, be quiet and take it like a good girl, because the „evil shall be punished in the next world“? Christians by and large are just cowardly enablers of this shit.

„How many contacted us? Five to seven? Ok, got it. Yeah, yeah, not Russia, I know that, I’m not stupid. “

Wasn’t one her - now obviously dropped - demands to ban convicted politicians from passive voting rights for life?

So if I got beef with some little island, all I got to do is send a sack of potatoes to the US, put some ridiculous price tag on it and pencil in the wrong address?

Every dollar sent to the US now is used to defeat us. #BoycotUS

Overall it’s a slightly better calculation than Trump did (bsky.app/profile/dans...) but still working with very flawed underlying reasoning and notwithstanding that, hitting the 99% much much harder than the 1%.

However the article assumes, if I understand correctly, that only 25% (may be up to 400%) of the price increase due to tariffs are passed on to US customers (seems unrealistic tbh, I’d assume 100% plus overhead).
comment in response to
post
That’s not how I read this. The linked page says tariffs would be an average of 20% globally. Can you double check your conclusion (maybe with an example)?

And now they can’t get him back because - well the USA has no jurisdiction in Ecuador. Nobody could have seen that coming. *surprisedpikachuface*

Confidently incorrect. Who would have thought that the feelings of people that are clearly unqualified for the job are totally irrelevant.

Duh! Why didn’t anyone mention this when Trump was taken to court again after his first conviction? They could just have sent him to Ecuador or northern Greenland or something, on the next occasion, no trial required.

Philosophy (and education and the truth for that matter) mean nothing in a mafia gang. All that counts is loyalty to the leader and the will to grab whatever power and money you can grab by whatever means you can think of.

Exactly. Can’t exactly make a law that requires a EU citizen to buy a certain car. I mean the orange clown certainly does try (and it’s hilarious) but short of that, they’ll just have to take it.

Can’t reason with unreasonable people. Meloni is dead wrong, this isn’t about „a difference in opinions“, the USA doesn’t give a shit about European opinions, they just want to strong-arm everyone.
