Fraser, oh Fraser! "The UK is imperial, mostly!" NO! The UK is completely metric, starting 1965, apart from: Road sign distances=miles. Speed limits=mph. Draft beer/cider, and milk in returnable containers=pints. Champagne! No, not any other wine! Precious metals=troy ounce. This is a complete list!

Dream? Nightmare? Kill Kennedy, and you get LBJ. Kill Trump, and you get JDV. Would Vance be any better? Worse? If Donald was a genius (no, he's a spoilt toddler), you'd suspect he chose Vance specifically to stop himself getting assassinated. Obviously, lets not kill politicians, folks.

I'd never noticed before just how much JD Vance looks like Phil Mitchel from Eastenders, who used to hang around Cold War Steve's glorious collages.

But do people definitely know what they're clicking on? I knew zilch about his thing with lobsters til just now. But I actually don't know much about him at all. It mostly looks like a vaguely amusing cartoon with a bloke holding lobsters to me! Hard to be sure what your friends were thinking.

Polio was a huge threat. It isn't a big deal now, precisely because of vaccines. "At its peak in the 1940s and 1950s, polio would paralyse or kill over half a million people worldwide every year." The insanity continues.

Dear Cold War Steve, Thank you for making laugh out loud in difficult days. Keep up the good work.

Huge memory of driving my car, North Wales, May 92. Put on BBCR4. It's some kind of INSANE news programme, about the ceremonial execution of Prince Edward. Apparently, he isn't as good as the others. No idea what on earth is going on, but it is the best, funniest thing I have ever heard in my life.

Crazy times indeed. Anyway, where's Rory? I'm half tempted to set up a fake Rory BSky account with links to various disasters, and the repeated comment "Very good!" Obviously, he can have it back when he eventually turns up. If you're still posting on X, and not posting here, you are the problem.

Wow. Amazing stuff. A whole history of cracks laid on top of other cracks. Leaves you wondering how old these are. Clearly it's a new surface comared to something like the moon, etc. But how many millions of years is "new"?

I have a huge soft spot for Jimmy Carr, after seeing him in a tiny comedy club in Chester, way before he started turning up on TV. JC was the best comedian I have ever seen live. Edgy, yes, but hilarious. But he's wrong about Musk. Musk IS a nazi. I defer to Tom Holland from Rest is History on this.

Davis, Morales, etc! I knew one at prmary school, but not sure I've met one since.

Unfortunate to lose a profile built up over years, but Twitter is gone. Sadly, if you are still posting on Twitter, you are the problem.

Spot the American! :-D

If Pluto had been discovered by someone from any other country, Americans wouldn't get so touchy and weird about it! Pluto is great an all, but it isn't a planet. I defer to the great American Neil deGrasse Tyson on this.

Always good to see you here again. If and when you feel like it, go out and take some more photographs.

Correct, there was no audio. However the video wasn't the usual cut/splice with one side is throwing a punch. Significant preamble of them talking/not talking, and not much happening. Was he reacting to something said? If so, then that is completely innapropriate, and shows him in a very bad light.

I'm unfollowing you due to all the foxes. I don't like urban foxes. They're pretty, but there are too many of them, and they're basically big rats. Bye!

We miss your glorious photographs of Wales, every day. Get well soon my photo friend. Man hugs.

What? I'm not sure you saw the same clip I saw. The MP didn't seem to react to anything. No audio, but it looked 100% unprovoked attack.
comment in response to post
The strange thing about the video of the attack is how it appeared to be a fairly relaxed conversation. No build up, and then out of nowhere, the MP just attacked the other guy. No audio, but seemingly for no reason whatsoever. Can we have less aggressive/weird MPs please?

Gawd knows the short days and miserable weather are enough to make anyone sad. But we absolutely love your photographs, and selfishly want you to take a very short break from us. Thank you for my fantastic desktop wallpaper, and come back soon. Manly hugs!

If the sun suddenly stopped shining, or just vanished, how long would humans and life survive? I reckon deep caves and oceans would retain heat a while, so maybe a week? 2 weeks? Maybe a month? Natural disasters? Also, how long before the surface gets within a few degrees of absolute zero?

My new wallpaper. As often happens with your photos.

Shocking! 1. Everyone needs to know about this. Not just influencers, but punters losing a ton of money. 2. This sounds to me like a huge legal case when people catch on. 3. How much are PayPal fleecing with this scam per year?

No surprise to see Mr and Mrs Assad turning up in Moscow. I suspect they will turn the heating up! Good luck to the people of Syria. You can only hope that the wars are over, and reasonable people end up in charge.

Really good interview of him by Andrew Benson recently. IMHO, Max is a classical psychopath. It's what makes him good at his job.

All so very true. But I don't really want to "like" this fact. Perhaps the main thingh missing on BSky is you can only "like" or "not press like".

Anyone wanting a British vacuum cleaner should buy a Henry. They're great, last for decades longer after your overpriced Malaysian tat has bitten the dust.

Paying £75 for a 10m consultation, £40 for tablets which probably cost 5p. Care "franchises" run to deliver profits above all else. Everything unaffordable unless you have "insurance". Deaths due to lack of funds. I do hope the NHS never gets like the USA. Or the British vetinary system for pets.

"The FIA, or Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile, is the regulatory body for F1. The FIA is a non-profit organization that has been pushing for a larger share of the sport's income." In their dreams!

It's like Joe has said... At some point F1 will get tired of this, will threaten to leave, and then will leave.

But the bigger question is... would Lando and Oscar have won the constructors in Red Bulls, with the McLaren strategy team? I'm thinking yes. I reckon Charles and Carlos too.

We had a GE FOUR MONTHS AGO! If anyone is waiting around for the next GE, it'll probably be within the next 1500 days. But it could be longer. You could say "Get over it losers!", but most of these people signing the petition didn't vote here and can't vote here.

To be fair to me, I wasn't trying very hard! But if this is part of a conversation, yes that would definitely make a lot more sense.

A million people from *wherever* have signed this useless thing. How many millions of genuine Brits have left X and joined BSky?

I think the main effect isn't people hiding this shoddy book. I'm sure people can find the thing if they want it. But people just aren't interested in 2024. de Pfeffel will pocket his big advance (£2M?), but he won't get anything like as much next time, 'cause HarperCollins have lost a ton of money.
comment in response to post
I have always thought the effects would be insidious and grow over time. If it's 5% of GDP now, I supect it will be much higher by 2035, not that same 5%.
