The point is that soon we won't be able to tell the difference. Of course, image-gen AI has major issues with copyright and other possible missuses. AI in general is a much bigger problem. Deep Mind just solved protein folding and that led to a Nobel Prize. It's moving fast and we don't know where.

AI has progressed in leaps and bounds over the last few years alone. Some of the latest Stable Diffusion Flux models are almost impossible to distinguish from a photo. We are playing with fire on multiple fronts here and I think it's deeply unsettling.
