All hospitals should be required to stock them and have someone on staff each shift trained to use them (ER staff?) and every rape kit done on a person should be required to be processdd within a reasonable period of time (2 or 3 weeks) full stop!

In addition, please mention that it isn’t just kits that need to be stocked. Staff needs to be appropriately trained.
It isn’t just about technical skills re: the kit. They also need to know chains of evidence AND be trauma informed.
It’s ridiculous that this is where we are in 2025.

Who to contact, besides the provincial ministers of health and justice, and attorneys general?
As criminal law is a federal responsibility, and the feds are responsible for ensuring equitable access to health care across the country, you need to contact federal ministers.
