Anyway, all that it took was a big sewer project that had to tear everything up!

I would bet that there’s more ped and bike than car traffic along this stretch.

Meanwhile at the west end of the short street, bikes continuing west on a path segment had to hope that eastbound traffic would stop for a semi-blind left turn around where the cyclist in the road is.

Where the barrel was, the old path met the street in a T, and notionally forced a stop and 90 degree turn going either way. That traffic engineer must have really hated cyclists.

From over here in flyover country, my main consolation should Cuomo get the job despite his unfitness is the high probability that it'll be the graveyard for his ambitions for higher office.

Also when you ask people to design their ideal immigration policy, with the exception of a handful of psychotic zero immigration sorts, it inevitably ends up far to the left of anything since Reagan's amnesty. People have zero idea of how fucked up and restrictive American immigration policy is.

It is hard to grasp but large masses of Americans are both racist/xenophobic AND not racist/xenophobic enough to applaud what Trump is doing. It's goldilocks shit, they want a level of racism/xenophobia calibrated exactly to their personal preferences, and you just can't make that policy. Don't try.

Thankfully, this incident wasn’t fatal—but it serves as a reminder that so-called “less-lethal” weapons used against protesters, while often considered relatively safe, can still cause serious harm.

Just saw a brand new facelifted Model Y in a local parking lot with a bumper sticker that says "here for zero emissions, not Elon."
My dude, those zero emissions were offset by a Dodge Ram or Hellcat when Stellantis bought Tesla's ZEV credits. You're just funding fascism. Sorry!

The wind is blowing in a different direction now and if Cuomo can feel it shift and you can’t, that’s a sign you need to buy a weathervane instead of sticking your wet finger in the air.

Retirement saving decisions are really tough.
It's all sacrifice & pain for decades.
The math is complex & uncertain, with most people displaying relevant biases underestimating payoffs &/or undervaluing future self.
Not like picking a bad restaurant & correcting. No feedback until too late.
