Honestly, they should be forced to name the team after a shittier tree.

What a fascinating interview to publish on election day in Canada. (Please remember to vote!)

I don’t think very often about hot dogs, but when I do I’m sad because none of them will ever taste as good as the one I had at Hot Doug’s in Chicago.

Now is not the time to start a trade war between Canada and Australia. www.torontotoday.ca/local/food-d...

“Maybe it’s a vaccine, you think. Maybe we need this ugly dose of What Can Be in order to avoid What Could Come. Then again we had four years of it the first time and somehow, immunity didn’t take. Maybe we fucked that up and now it’s a drug-resistant socio-political superbug.”

Proposed seasonal aphorisms for Toronto: - April sleet brings May heat - April ice but May nice - April white stuff, May bright enough - April snowstorm means May’s so warm #dlws

Can we talk about the cruel irony of the present and past tense of “read” being spelled the same, thus hindering the very activity described by the word?

Well, I have successfully made it in (and now, thank god, out) of the United States. Idk if/when I will be back—which is sad, because I love US folks. Once again, they did not make it easy. I will explain.

There are some positive signs. 🦅 🥾

Call it anecdotal, but my Canadian friends who are cancelling their US travel are not doing it because of tariff worries at all; they’re doing it because the US government is currently actively threatening Canada’s sovereignty and economy and they’re all justifiably furious

Went grocery shopping tonight. It’s early March in Toronto. The ground is frozen. The nadir of local produce. Any fresh fruit and veg right now is imported or from a well-heated greenhouse. It’s striking just how much less American the produce section has become, at least at the local No Frills.

The question was a bit risible (“one of his realms,” really?), but what an appeasement-dipshit response this was from Starmer.

Is there a name for the phenomenon where you hear music poorly and your brain registers it in one key, and then your brain abruptly realizes it’s in a different key than you first thought? Does this happen to other people?

Sorry

Terrific @newyorker.com interview with Mike White. What a delightful weirdo and creative force. www.newyorker.com/magazine/202...

I don't like that a small group of bloated tech companies are in control of so much in the world. I don't like how they're falling over themselves to fight a MAGA culture war. I really don't like that they're asking how AI might make better bombs for bigger profits. www.theverge.com/news/606418/...
