A cdrama and kdrama art and fic magpie, basically. I like shiny, pretty things. And hockey. Not much original content. I wasn't going to post politics, but needs must when the devil drives.

Minnesota noice

I haven’t seen nearly enough people talking about this. The levels of greed and inhumane thinking on display is actually terrifying. America really is dystopian as fuck.

The killer is consistently described in the press as “a devout Christian who opposed abortion” as if that’s an essential trait of devout Christians. Many, if not most, “devout” Christians support abortion access. Melissa Hortman was a Catholic who taught Sunday school.

I now know that one of my local sporting goods stores slips in a praise Jesus song every so often into its piped-in music playlist. Next time, I won't feel so ambushed. Or, more probably, I'll just shop at Dick's instead (better all-around vibe)

Summary: - Dude is an immigrant agricultural worker working in the US - ICE abducts and "detains" him - Private "detention" facility has him doing farmwork - So he's still an immigrant agricultural worker working in the US, but now paid only $1 a day Nobody's been convicted of a crime or anything

I came here to eat plums and write poetry, and that's the last of your plums.

Opened the last pocket on the father’s day advent cargo pants.

This is huge. The Trump administration wants to vastly expand the practice of shipping people to random countries they have never been to before, and are now making this part of a threat; either the countries accept taking third country nationals, or they get banned from visas.

Thinking today of Jacob Lawrence's beautiful 1977 print "The Swearing In," a depiction of Jimmy Carter's inauguration focusing not on pomp & grandeur of the ceremony itself but rather on the crowd of ordinary people who have come together to watch

ICE raiding a crowded supermarket in Rosemead, California with no identification, indistinguishable from cartel hitmen, pulling high caliber rifles on unarmed US citizens trying to ask questions about wtf is going on. #3E #StopICE

My favorite #Wisconsin #NoKings sign/flag from today. #wipolitics

Proud of Minnesotans

Spotted near the No Kings protest in Atlanta today

The revolution is full of 60-year-old women who love their trans kids.

A bit of brightness in this world: the Edmonton Oilers apparently play Pink Pony Club in the locker room whenever they win, and it’s become a sort of unofficial playoff anthem. Love these burly hockey dudes embracing it. Love the overalls. Love it all. Go Oilers!

PHOTOS: Vance Boelter, suspect in shootings of Democratic lawmakers in Minnesota. The photo on the right, with the cowboy hat, was taken this morning. Call 911 if seen.

“A deranged maniac impersonated a police officer and killed lawmakers but if you’re an immigrant be sure you immediately comply with plain clothes people who won’t identify themselves telling you to get in a van”, what a fuckin country

For your phone back ground

Trump’s provocations have turned Angelenos into pedestrians

Queen move!

"Refugees," a stunning early lithograph by African-American artist Robert Blackburn, one of most accomplished printmakers of the 20th century

A guy who named his company Praetorian Guard? Assassinating (allegedly) the political opposition of a wannabe king??!

The No Kings protest I saw today had great attendance, more than five times the usual numbers (it's a regular event). With an assassin on the loose, Waltz asked people not to attend. Many came anyway. Some had added "No Fear" to their posters. That's how you respond to attempts to intimidate. MN 🫶

The Chaska protest is on, and it's big!

Of all the ideas that Terry Pratchett spends the entire Watch series beating us over the head with (the job of the copper is to keep the peace, take care of your prisoners, always keep the receipts, etc) none feel more revolutionary in 2025 than the idea that police are civilians, not soldiers

so far this week: DHS vows to not leave California till it is "liberated" from elected reps Opposition leaders detained illegally Opposition leaders indicted Opposition leaders and families murdered to wrest control of a state military parade with tanks through US capital Red line here yet?

I would like my state, every state, to mandate badges, name plates, no masks, for all law enforcement in the state. And if federal agents try to break the mandate, arrest them, then let the courts sort it out.

Any person in uniform wearing a mask and refusing to be properly and reliably identified should be assumed to be the same kind of murderer we’ve seen in Minnesota.

Oh, Minnesota, my dear home state, may all that is good, loving, and warm bless you and hold you today and always, but especially today. Hard to not be in MN/with family today. Standing tall and proud. I shall not be cowed by this cowardly, dastardly, ink-splotch of black evil.
