I think you're incorrect here. Mamdani's base is built off people that believe in him, and that what he's doing is good and right. The people swayed solely on charisma are fair weather. They might win you the election but you need people to believe in what you're doing to build the initial momentum.

Obviously its important that Mamdani wins the general (which i believe he will) but when he wins it will be important that his policies are a success if we want to see more of this. So the work cant stop when he gets elected. I hope the base he's mobilized continue the work and build off this.

I point this out to say that charisma alone wont do it, nor will good policy. And I see a lot of people shit on the idea of electability but showing strong leadership skills is vital in electability. People dont vote on a bulleted wish list - they vote for a person they trust will have their back.

In the debate and some interviews, his competitors got softballs while he got really unfair questions. He didnt spiral out, and instead he changed minds one by one. Thats not just star power, its the markings of a good communicator and strong leader. He was the best candidate overall.

The person i convinced to not rank Cuomo is a middle aged progressive woman with kids, a LGBTQIA activist, grew up poor, a feminist & not a bigot. To assume people considering ranking Cuomo are bad people is reductive. They're just not chronically online & need information.
