Do not get lost in a sea of despair. Be hopeful, be optimistic. Our struggle is not the struggle of a day, a week, a month, or a year, it is the struggle of a lifetime. Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble.

Why do they get to wear masks and hide their badges? They are no different than thugs.

MSM was fully on board for the Iraq War. The Atlantic and New Yorker both published long articles in favor. The NYT was astatic as was the WSJ editorial board. Pro-war editorials outnumbered those calling for restraint 10:1. No one dared to state the obvious which was that they were lying.

But to be fair, these qualities are the things that make him an entertaining read.

That BLM land is crap land that they couldn’t give away to settlers back when we had them. Some of the National Forest is pretty nice.

If you aren’t using a pro version of one of the LLMs you are falling behind. I don’t use it to write but I do use it to research things I am curious about. It helps me be a better gardener, interior decorator, and employee. Why wouldn’t I use it?

I prefer the oscillating universe model for purely esthetic reasons.

He routinely calls his political opponents vile nasty things and accuses them of being violent far leftists.
“Will no one rid of me this meddlesome priest.”

He has already pardoned 1500 violent thugs for no reason other than their allegiance to him. Anyone contemplating violence has to know that a pardon awaits them.

Trump has already declared journalists The Enemy of The State. He routinely describes in the most vile of terms his political opponents - union leaders are “vile, nasty, far left Marxists” as are politicians and other leaders who have spoken out against him.

People have already started impersonating ICE agents to commit crimes: shakedown businesses, attack rivals and in one case, to sexually assault a woman.
It’s pretty clear what the likely next step is: death squads will start to conduct attacks against the Enemies of The State.

No one has dumped hundreds of millions into abundance stuff. I have to assume that this is deliberate hyperbole.

So how will we do better this time? Though it’s already starting to look like events are overtaking this discussion. I hope you have your gas mask ready!

I just think it’s funny everyone left Twitter because it’s a toxic hellhole then they do the exactly stuff here. I am amused.

Sadly in today’s political climate with today’s rules, it’s very hard to win without money. Maybe a grassroots movement could without any big donors, but Sanders couldn’t do it and he is very charismatic and had the right message at the right time. The centrist Dems just crushed it.

Yes there is a lot of money behind the YIMBY movement. Developers love YIMBYs and YIMBYs are in favor of building more housing and making it easier to do so. That doesn’t make it astroturf, it means our interests align. That’s how you win elections, build a coalition.

AOC is great! I hope she is the next President. Bernie is too old and should retire along with the rest of the Democratic septegenarions in The Senate. The Democratic party is old and out of touch.

You mean Derek Thompson spoke? I don’t see “abundance Cochella” in there anywhere.

Lots of people claimed YIMBY was astroturf. Some still do.

Referred to by who? Rolling Stones says that it was barely mentioned at the conference.

No it’s a movement. Ezra Klein’s book tour sold out nationwide. Abundant SF and Armand Donalewski threw an event that sold out 200 and had a long waiting list. They expected a dozen. It’s very popular amongst SF Yimby’s. I can’t say what it’s like outside of SF.

He explains in detail why abundance and neoliberalism have contradictory ideas about the role of the state.
It’s almost as if the critics of abundance haven’t even bothered to figure out what it is about.

You think the funders are the deciders of what abundance is about more than the people involved? That’s not how it works.
comment in response to

This is what I got for suggesting that abundance wasn’t actually the same as neoliberalism.

From Klein’s article in today’s NYT. It’s really sad (and predictable I guess) to see people like Newsom try and attach themselves to the movement, when they are a big part of the problem.

Sure lots of people are trying to jump on and hi-jack the movement.
