Honestly? It has some elements! It definitely made me question if it was or wasn't 😂 it just didn't have enough that would have normally made me pick it up in like a bookstore personally. I only heard about it because I was sent an unsolicited review copy

I generally struggle with books that aren't either speculative and/or romances 😅 so I wasn't sure how PLAIN BAD HEROINES would go. Had moments where it was a bit slow but overall I liked the way it came together

Me too! That was a fun duology and very much looking forward to this new book. I've been a bit hit or miss with dark academia but it's sapphic, fantasy, and comped to PLAIN BAD HEROINES (which is very much NOT what I usually read but I ended up really enjoying)

The Unspoken Name was a super interesting read (though still need to read the sequel 😅). Hope you enjoy it!

Absolutely adore Half a Soul and the rest of the series! Her other related book The Witchwood Knot is also excellent!

Would definitely keep reading after that line!! (I swear there's just something about bells and shadow realms...)

Love this response and can relate. Also reminds me of Daine from Tamora Pierce's Immortals quartet (faves of mine as a kid)

So much necromancy 😂 I think I might now have it in some form or another in every single one of my recent novels

Oh that's a killer line 💀 here for any and all gods of death!

It's SO interesting how people approach it and being able to explore both ways that are similar to our world and also what it could look like. Personal beliefs aside, I love thinking about it as another phase of a being's journey in my stories. So many pathways to explore

Always! My (future) readers can always count on my stories to have magic, monsters, and lots of bones 💀

It's definitely something! Not my usual tone or perspective to write from but this project is asking for something different!
