I’m more a chatter-with & connector-of people than a poster. I’ll remember years later that you once said you like pancakes & tag you in a recipe I just found. Banner - a flopsed rabbit called Chive. Avatar - me in a Giant Chair in Danish Design Museum.

TW: harm to children. My research into the effects of the UK government puberty-blocker ban has finally been published after peer-review. It details the severe harm being caused to young trans people & children by the Starmer government's puberty-blocker ban. Unlike Cass it is peer reviewed...

Looking forward to attending this tomorrow. Still places left

Kneecap has assembled a formidable legal team made up of the best human rights lawyers and barristers in the UK, including Garreth Pierce, in order to put the political British justice system in the dock today. Wishing them well in exposing it's hypocrisy

In 2017, the then minister for housing… crucial map… ”Over 2,000 hectares of land suitable for housing in State/semi-State ownership” “potential for up to 50,000 new-build homes on these lands”. The link now goes merely to the home page of the Housing for All website. There is no map of these sites.

Workers didn’t just ‘figure it out’. By joining a Union and paying dues, where a strike is officially supported by the Union, members get strike pay (as long as funds are available, often supported by unions in other countries). Historically, strikes break when no funding meant starvation/eviction.

Hard to convey just how much better the public sphere is without all the smoking everywhere, all the time. Smoking seemed like it was the primary life task of much of the country when I was small. Even came below eating and drinking.

I've been watching this every Bloomsday since my UCD days (Joyce himself was a UCD lad, wouldntya know) I have yet to tire of it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=p856...

Libraries! I'm filling my dance card for CBF to talk about my new middle grade series, and I have some spaces free - hit me up if you have a horde of children who need entertaining... #libraries #Irishlibraries

Cartoon from 2010 when the Horizon oil rig went down. It bugs me when people think Palestine has only been an issue since last October, or trans people have only existed since 2015, or the housing crisis in Ireland dates solely to an increase in refugees, etc….

Hello! I have a happy favour to ask. Last year, I had a US intern working with us and she now is looking for help that you- good reader of this account- could give. (She needs academic survey participants) Check out her flyer below, click the link, and please RT docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...

The air pressure at the moment is causing me so much ear pain.

Realised this is one of many “but I’d have liked that, why didn’t I watch/listen/go to it at the time?” things that were released when I had teeny babies. LOADS of actors who, in my world, suddenly appeared on screen fully accomplished, and I didn’t know till now where they’d cut their teeth.

I was looking for oft-referenced shows I haven’t seen, decided on Veronica Mars, went into Prime & am starting with the Movie as it’s only going to be available for ten more days! I know that’ll be back to front but needs must… anyway, for those with a yen to see it before it goes, you have 10 days!

Update: We've removed the paywall for all ye who enter.

I had to share this with the only other rat owner I know! @doublehelix.bsky.social I really like these beasties, and reckon there’s probably one in my future at some point :)

Pollyanna was never deludedly optimistic: when she had to stretch to be Glad, glad, glad, it was to find the good that even an ill wind can bring. I think it valid to believe that many who sign up do so to serve, even more to just have a reliable wage, and few want to be pawns for an authoritarian.

This is a vital read from Simon about how the British Supreme Court ruling in favour of an anti-trans activist group is incompatible with EU law (touching also on those SF quislings who would have Ireland bow the knee to a UK judgement with no authority in Ireland, North or South.)
