Should we pitch a 1980s game against a 2020s game?

In almost any respect, Flettner rotors should behave similar to sails, or wings, physically... (not in terms of maintenance or energy requirements, obviously)

Das scheint komplizierter zu sein... französische Wikipedia weiß mehr.

I also have doubts as to whether it's fun while its engines are working...

The Blackburn Bombaneer was the epitome of 1950s British aircraft design, mostly because it was silvery, underpowered, overdragged, underlifted, overweight and a deathtrap for its crews. Nevertheless, it looked good on RAF recruitment posters.
It was however, soon replaced by something more useful.

(Never, because... viscosity and finite length of sail or rotor)

There's something strange about that statement. Any sail, or wing, will also create lift only at 90° angle to the inflow - that is, however, just by definition of the term. The component parallel to the inflow, drag, also exists, and the vector sum will never be at 90° to the inflow in both cases.

Not-so-witchy witchcraft that's relatively simple to grasp when considering there's friction between the rotor surface and the air that will slow the air down on one side and... uhm,
...
nevermind, it's witchcraft.

It's in line with the A400M being used as the control aircraft.
Good!

"No AI" reminds me strongly of "No CGI": A label everyone likes to use, and everyone's lying.
I bet code developers are already using AI daily.

The EE Lightning F12 is the least known, fighter-bomber variant, shown here in its usual loadout with no bombs at all - they were considered too dangerous during evaluation.
But it looked OK, and Vulcan crews liked it, so everyone said to heck with it, we'll keep it.
8 points out of 10 stars.

At those speeds, drag isn't a factor, I suppose.
