That makes sense! It was honestly extremely troubling and surprising for me to learn that there were artists who didn't have a clear understanding of certain details. I hope this comic is a helpful visual way of directly presenting them.

Hi! Its "50% of net income after expenses" - so money that comes in after covering costs. Lots of publishers use this in a predatory way to claim "costs" in any way they want, so I commissioned this comic to spell out how we do. Always welcoming suggestions on how anything could be better.

We don't see ourselves like other publishers (which is why we operate how we do) and are definitely open to feedback on how to make things work better for our artists if they'd prefer not to need to put so much trust in us.

Adam, Hi— in that email, i welcomed feedback on alternative royalty models, and I'd love your thoughts either here or in a side channel.

Voting for a comics award should start with a short quiz to confirm having read all the nominations for the category being voted on. And an easy way of reading the nominations even if they're from a micro press without massive distribution!

Could not agree more! If diverse books don't sell as well, its a failure in marketing, not indicative of reader appetites. Even from a cold hearted capitalist perspective, the books I've published from more diverse creators and about these so called "sensitive" topics have been the best sellers.

That's bananas I'm so sorry you're dealing with that!! Maybe try using Google Forms? It's free and you can set it up to email you when folks submit something while also having a page or spreadsheet link you can bookmark to go see all the responses at once

He's been day-job working at Skybound animation but I believe the publishing itch is strong. Comic Arts LA was really inspiring this past December

Back when I still drove a car I'd feel better focused when someone in the passenger seat even was hitting a fidget spinner. I need something on my desk just interesting enough but not distracting...

I don't know why being on video calls brings this out, they aren't stressful, but needing to sit still on them is especially challenging for me.
