A democracy-loving ibex, protesting since 1969. Ally of the Heard and McDonald Islands penguins. Flippers up! Resistance is NOT futile.

Sorry, didn't mean foreground. On the far right, next to the embassy.

Thanks! I was there, mostly in the little park in the right foreground, next to the embassy.

Of course there have been protests this big in the US. This is Washington, DC. Closest building on the right is the Canadian embassy. I see several references to guns on the signs, so it might've been the March for Our Lives in 2018.

Watch again: one officer did stop him. (I'm not excusing the ones that didn't.)

Still not an excuse to vandalize the property of a random Jew. Bye.

Vandalizing the property of a random American Jew to make a point about the policies and actions of the Israeli government is antisemitic.

To coin a phrase, resistance is NOT futile.

Why are you calling the protests "riots", when you know they're not riots?

Whether you like the idea or not, "human beings" include all the people we disapprove of and all the people who do despicable things.

And nobody in this terrible bubble has told me, "Shut up, Jew," in a thread totally unrelated to Jews, Judaism, Israel, etc.

Google just told me that "no solar" translates to "non-solar". lol

I have never understood the bubble or echo chamber argument. Do these critics think we don't have lives elsewhere, both on and offline? That we don't interact with other people and views elsewhere?

It's not 50% of the country; it's 50% of the people who actually voted in 2024. Let's not make the awful reality even worse than it is.

That's no excuse, though. I worked for a non-profit correctional contractor. We were required to complete the same training as our state-employee counterparts. Fed system should work the same way.

Thanks. My guess is that it would at least partly depend on an individual's particular LC symptoms. @hmkyale.bsky.social and @zalaly.bsky.social, any thoughts?

Ugh, thank you for mentioning long covid. I've been tear gassed a couple times, both in training and, um, in the wild. As you said, "very unpleasant but not dangerous". Not sure that I'm willing to risk finding out how it interacts with long covid.
