The assumption was that interdependence correlated with a higher standard of living for all trading partners would take the day. No one thought that people like Putin and Trump et al. would care more about uplifting their fragile egos than having a happy populace. Unforeseen.

As I watched @maddow.msnbc.com review the polls of Trump 'under-water', I could not help but notice that 40% of Americans in poll after poll after poll do not budge from their dis-information fed fantasy views in support of Trump. Only a Trump death will move the needle slightly to 33%.
