Agreed. Watched a couple of these yesterday. The one where he goes to Siena was interesting. And the Lombardy episode where he goes to Bergamo was good too. The "vertical farms" were cool.

Can we go back to 1987 for the weekend? Just for a little break from this world? It wasn't perfect then either, but we had Exposure. This reminds me of girls in Mustangs who would wear this tape out...

Yes! I was a bit overdue for that first one and just did the same a few weeks ago. They took out something that would have eventually turned into cancer. Folks, please. Listen to Erik and take this seriously. Someone out there depends on you. Please be there for them.

Don't give up on the hope that she'll one day become a lap cat Steve. Our two girls are rescued ferals who turned 13 this month. We adopted them at about 5 months old. Back around Thanksgiving last year at 12.5 YO one of them crawled into my lap and she hasn't left since. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Was hoping there would be more puns this morning. We have to keep this thread current!

We had a fried pizza slice once in Broadford, Skye. Think it was the "light" version without being battered first, but I don't remember. Either way my heart stopped before I left the chippy and this is being typed by my ghost. โ˜ ๏ธ

Hope you figure it out. Wishing you all the luck! That's gotta be very frustrating.

I'd guess perhaps a smoke detector with a failing battery, but those are usually loud beeps. ๐Ÿ”Š Off balance load of laundry? Dishwasher with cycle interrupted prompting you to start back up? Grasping at straws.

My guess is that there's probably an urban/rural dimension to it as well, but age/generation is probably even more of a factor.

I think so. In the early 90s I dated a girl from TX (San Antonio) who had a slight southern accent, but much less than her parents. I have team members today in TX (Houston) (25 years younger) who have basically no discernible accent. Some with parents from other places, some multi-gen TX natives.

When are you bringing one of the bebes home to your house? You mentioned a few weeks ago preparing to borrow one. We. Need. The. Cat. Pics.

I'm about to start my work day so I guess I'll have to... wait for it... save it for later. Sorry, I'll show myself out now. Have a good day all! ๐Ÿ™‚

I won't swear to it because I've only used it a couple of times and it's been a while, but that sounds familiar. I seem to remember thinking the base was dark. I exposed at 1600 and it turned out well.

When they split and formed General Public and Fine Young Cannibals, both of those did well here too. I'm aware of the existence of the American band that caused the naming issue, but I don't think they were as popular here.

I woke up angry because I dreamt that someone doing brickwork on our house had (without our approval) also installed basically a private road through our front yard so that a neighbor could more easily enter their property. As he drove away I yelled "I'm not paying for that!" dreams are weird

I suspected he might have been stretching the truth a bit asking about snow melt in June just to get a reaction out of his roommates. ๐Ÿ™‚ Of course, that said - this was 30 years ago. As fast as the weather has changed in my lifetime, it might have snowed more "back then."

I occasionally used to see a very authentic looking Latin-American cowboy waiting at a crosswalk on my drive to work. He looked pretty out of place in suburban NY where there are few horses (other than a tiny subset of people with enough property to own one) and definitely no farms with cows.

The Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The part connected to Wisconsin. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Upper_P...

@foggygray.bsky.social - are you originally from the UP? How long does the snow last up there? My roommate would call his dad in June and be asking about how much the snow had melted by then.

I had a roommate in grad school who was a Yooper (Upper Peninsula of Michigan). They'd still have feet of snow on the ground up there until basically mid-June. ๐Ÿ’€

I'll add that you can also use a Proxar, which is a Hassy lens filter that allows for slightly closer focusing. They're a bit controversial because you're going to give up a little sharpness. BUT, no faff at all. It's like putting reading glasses on your lens. No exposure comp. No bulk.

In my limited darkroom experience, I did the same. I have some yellow and tan trays too which are equivalent to white in my flow.

Yeah, I just cannot carry something that large. I wanted to be monopod only for that trip to be able to keep moving quickly and the 200mm prime was about as big as I wanted to deal with. Oh well, still nice to see the ponies doing their thing! ๐Ÿ™‚

A few years back I had the same experience when I tried to photograph them on Chincoteague, Dan. With a 200mm lens, that's about as close as I ever got! Still nice to see them, though.

Agreed! I'm part Sony these days but still part Canon (R8) when I want to travel light! I forgot, I also have the Tamron 17-35mm F2.8-4 Di OSD for EF. That's a nice, small portable zoom too. Got that one for free new old stock never used from a failed tech startup (long story!). ๐Ÿ™‚
