On the subject of covers, my daughter was humming “liiisten to Iron Maaaaaiden” in the car the other day and I asked her how she knew Wheatus and she proceeded to play me some TikTok boosted cover that is, *somehow*, worse. Re-education began immediately with Run to the Hills and Fear of the Dark

Ya might have Wheatus tangled up with Weezer. While I can take or leave Weezer, Wheatus can absolutely get in the bin 🤮

I was doing a written version of my reply and I was going to qualify that it isn’t *actually* better but you will be astonished by the shake they give it. Ditto RHCP’s Stooges cover

My friend in Jesus, if you that think Fatty McBoyo was adjudicating in favour of the Bulls you may need a refresher course on the laws of rugby and consensual reality.

For what it’s worth, McCarthy fawned over the sentences written by Kent Haruf whose oeuvre is much quieter, but equally spare and beautiful. Plainsong is the place to start #booksky

So many incredible sentences and distillations of place and moment. All the Pretty Horses and Blood Meridian remain literary high-water marks for me.

Gavin Coombes. For the life of me cannot figure out why he’s not in emerald green more often.

I’m not kidding — my actual, literal project-management-productivity suite at work nearly made me rage-spit my coffee out this morning when it offered up this hot garbage. I would rather mash my nuts between two anvils than revisit my 2024 work year.
