Yeah. I'm that guy. Think what you want. See about attempting to reach people with kindness, and not so much hate. And step out of Mom's basement for a breather, once in a while.

Well, guy, it does affect me. Not as severely as it does others but, as I said, I'm an old, white guy. I'm NOT touched as badly as others, and that's a big problem. If old, white guys felt the pain, it would cease to be. Why so much hate from people? 'Cause I said not all cops are bad? It's true.

So, prove my life experience? Nope. Science can't transfer that from one person to another. I wish that it could though. I would have learned from those who went before me. Now, thanks to the internet, people are freakin' geniuses right out the gate! No need to live life. Already know it all!

I get it. My claim is based only on my experience with the cops as a white person. As I said in another reply, I've got two arrests, one for felony possession 56 years ago for two joints. It could have been (probably WOULD have been) bad if I were a person of color. I don't know for sure.

This is not a provable statement, anymore than the statement “cops do the wrong thing more often than they do the right thing.” Is the latter your argument? If so, I’ll ask the same of you. It’s not a logical question.

Love the tolerance. “Don’t disagree and you’ll fit in just fine! Got an opinion? How dare you!” Even if I am wrong (which most commentators believe), I am entitled to my thoughts. Please allow me that. Or will I fall out of your favor. Oh, well… Now I’m crushed!

And I spelled out my ethnicity, acknowledging that “my people” don’t experience the discrimination and racism that others do. What more can I say than that? Mean people do suck, be they cops or anyone who disparages others. Anyone pop into mind? (Check the mirror).

Give me a break. The screen name refers to the felon-in-chief. If you can’t figure THAT out I certainly won’t waste my time on anything you say! Though, I’m not fond of those who have blatant disrespect for the law. Law separates us from the animals. Anarchist?

I don’t live in a bubble. I know there are serious issues with bad cops and I know that the current administration will only make things worse. We need serious reform. All I said is not all cops are bad. Enough absolutism. It’s not true just because it’s the current school of thought.

What claim did I make? That I haven’t experienced the level of bad policing that the other commenters have? You dispute that? On what evidence? You’re confusing me. There ARE bad cops, I know! There ARE good cops, and I know that, too.

Wow! What kind of unreasonable person must he be, huh? Perhaps we should just cancel him: Obviously, he’s not one of the cool kids! The nerve of him, having his own opinion!!!

74 years and I’ve seen the inside of a jail cell twice in that span. When I was 18, I got busted for a couple of joints (felony, then). The cop looked at the pretty young man I was and didn’t throw me in the felony tank. I would have been dog meat! In retrospect, I was grateful.

Hope you do, too! I’m dragging my ancient butt out there to hold a sign with a bunch of people! Peace to you! ☮️

I would love to see a society in which we didn’t need to spend a single penny on police. I would also love to see a society where people can have opinions that differ, and a lynch rope isn’t used to silence the one who differs. Sadly, as evidenced here…

And I respect your opinion.

I’m sorry that you you had a bad experience. If you don’t mind my asking, how were you brutalized? Did you file a report?

I agree. Please provide.

Or, maybe I keep the actual life experiences that I have had, keep what has been truth for me, and not fall in with the anarchists. You know who else is an anarchist? Trump and his J6 people. Many reasons why I don’t experience the boot of the cops, but true that I don’t.

And I just have to say that the America you are looking for requires that everyone agree with your point of view. Good luck with that. That’s the EXACT attitude of MAGA!!! What are you? 22? Get a little age under your belt and you might lose your absolutes! Not black and white! Not “every”!

I haven’t seen the evidence of 9 out of 10 cops being bad. I don’t live in the South, I am not a minority, and I am too old and white for the cops to mess with me. My good fortune, to be sure. If it is true, by all means, it must be fixed! I agree. Just haven’t seen the proof.

So, you don’t do “respectfully “, do you? We don’t live in a world of absolutes. And when “anti-fascism” becomes “fascism”, well, you’re no better than the enemy. Hating the felon doesn’t mean I will let hate rule me! Good day!

Wow! I caught a whole lot of shit from respectfully disagreeing. That's cool. I'm wrong a whole lot, so being wrong doesn't surprise me. If you were mortally offended by my pushing back, maybe that says something about you, though. Or not. As I said...

Yeah... I suppose that's an option.

At 74 years of age, the last thing I want to be doing tomorrow is holding a protest sign! My body already hurts, and it won't be pleasant, but I love this country and I'm a Vet. Damned right I'll be there!

Gotta push back a bit here, my friend. Cops do the right thing more often than they do the wrong thing. Of course, I say that as an old, middle-class white dude, so I haven't felt the stick. Still...

So, nearly a month later, and I see your post. Gracias, amigo! A perfect song for the times, even though I showed up late. Peace be with you and war be upon them!😜

The government is cutting its representation of the citizens every time it cuts another agency or program. When FEMA doesn't show up to do their job, the citizens are not being represented. They tax us and give the money to the rich. And the rich own the detention facilities.

They might plan on having the 2026 elections. I only say that because they are pulling the Medicaid after the elections, so their base doesn't revolt. As for the '28 elections, this country will be a war zone by then and elections will be canceled. Just a guess.

Yeah... He didn't want to make it seem like political prosecution. What ever happened to courage?

I can tell you one thing: Trump didn't write that.

Why should universities be "abiding by the laws" when the president doesn't respect or abide by the law? And if the felon is telling schools what they should teach, perhaps he should take a course in civics pertaining to the 3 co-equal branches of government. Learn before you try to teach!

I'm still deeply saddened by the laziness of so many Democrats, who were clearly warned of what America would look like under the rule of the orange Nazi. Every vote counts!

I think it's really important to point out to the supporters of the felon that, if this bill does pass, the cuts won't happen until right after the 2026 midterms. Until Republicans feel the pain, they will continue to vote Republican. Let's tell 'em that the pain is coming!
