I hadn't twigged this point re Biden's pardons but it is quite chilling..

UMIST (showing my age) had a very nice pilot plant but no undergraduate would get near it. It was the domain of postgraduates and research. Speaks to the original point on why undergraduates think their courses are not value for money.

As a Graduate Chemical Engineer I am also puzzled by the assertion STEM degrees are intrinsically high cost. I don't recall any lectures with less than 20 students and in many cases, for example our applied mathematics lectures, there were many more than that.
