I think also with DS9 it wasn't cynicism bc utopia is impossible. It's that utopia is really fucking hard, and people making bad choices hoping that it will get them closer to that end goal but anguished at the thought that it is just driving them further away. ItPM is probably the best example

Yeah feelings like this were really bad for me at the beginning of lockdown. My kid was just old enough to remember his life before that happened. But then I thought about how my parents had me during the Cold War when nuclear armageddon seemed possible. There's always something to fear.

If she had just disappeared without word, all that would be left is rumors about why she was gone. It could be anything from the truth to speculation about her husband's gambling debts catching up with them. In making it explicit in her speech why she was leaving, she prevented misrepresentation

You know what's funny is I care a lot more about Jedha now after playing Jedi: Survivor, too. I thought it was cool and interesting and wanted to spend more time there. Now I have and it's devastating to lose it.

I'm really happy she's getting to do stuff this season other than get tortured and cry. She's probably going to die before the end of the season but at least she gets to go outside first

A lot of these entertainment CEOs have gotten it into their head that they need targeted programming and crossover appeal is bad somehow? idk. it's also extremely gendered. very weird. There was a lot of this over the HBO Max stuff

It's some Big Brain on the Disney level who thinks Star Wars is for boys so if they get too many girls in the audience, it's diluting the brand!! The girls get princess stuff that's it.
