If you’re not following the live drop of SCOTUS opinions on @scotusblog.bsky.social, you’re doing it wrong. Join the conversation here www.scotusblog.com

Check out new Substack from Shan Wu. Under Color of Law.

No surprise that courts have ruled in favor law firms that challenged Trump’s EOs. “(L)awyers’ independence to represent all sorts of clients is essential to preserving the rule of law and fairness in the courtroom.” www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

I love it when leaders lead and live their values! Too many are putting their heads down and following these days!

With danger of political violence, why would anyone seek public office? We have a unique opportunity to take back our democracy through peaceful discourse. My thoughts in StayTuned Substack. staytuned.substack.com/p/who-will-r...

Minnesota shooting suspect is in custody. I’ll join @MorningJoe at 7:25 am ET to discuss the rise in political violence. @MSNBC.

Miss you, Dad!

Outrage, grievance, and division are the ingredients for political violence. My thoughts in @NYTimes www.nytimes.com/2025/06/15/o...

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads and father figures out there. Thanks for all you do to support us!

Minnesota assassin is still at large. I’ll discuss law enforcement response on @MSNBC at 7:30 am ET.

When you normalize political violence by pardoning Jan 6 attackers, can we be surprised when people target public officials? This is not how we resolve our disputes in America. www.nbcnews.com/news/amp-vid...

In new episode of #SistersInLaw, we break down the laws on using the military in domestic law enforcement, the arrests of members of Congress, and the indictment of Abrego Garcia. You can listen here. www.politicon.com/podcasts/tro...

Trump has pledged to restore Confederate names to military bases, even though it would violate a statute passed by Congress. These names belong to traitors who led a rebellion against America. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/10/u...

Thank you to all of our service members and veterans. We appreciate you, your families, and your sacrifices for our country. Wish we were spending millions on you instead of a parade.

Happy #FlagDay. The flag belongs to all of us. Don’t let anyone appropriate patriotism. 🇺🇸

Glad to see this “pause” so that ICE can focus its priorities on actual threats to public safety instead of farm workers and hotel maids, but this flip flop is just more evidence that Trump has no values. Only morally bankrupt “deals.” www.nytimes.com/2025/06/13/u...

Judge Breyer found not only that Trump Admin failed to follow lawful procedure in activating National Guard in LA, but also failed to show a “rebellion” or inability to execute federal law. In other words, as I read it, order was based on a pretext. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Hello, Alabama! @JoyceWhiteVance.bsky.social is luring me to your state for 3 book talks with promises of BBQ! Please join us! 6/23 Birmingham littleprofessorbookshop.com/products/bar... 6/24 Montgomery newsouthbookstore.com/event/tuesda... 6/25 Fairhope www.facebook.com/share/1JMPyn...

Turns out blowing off the requirement to activate the National Guard “through” a state’s governor is more than a “foot fault,” as DOJ lawyer argued. It is illegal.

DOJ lawyer called failure to comply with statute requiring activation of National Guard “through” the governor a “foot fault.” Cringe. I’d call that argument an unforced error. No surprise the judge ended up waving around a pocket copy of the Constitution. www.politico.com/news/2025/06...

Thanks to @JohnQBarrett. bsky.social and the Robert H Jackson Center for hosting me to discuss DOJ: Then and Now. @RHJC.Bsky.social You can watch/listen here: 2q8k4r0w.r.us-east-1.awstrack.me/L0/https:%2F...

What is the limit of the president’s authority to send military troops to quell protests? I’ll discuss on @MSNBC at noon ET.

If your dad or father figure in your life is curious about law and national security, please consider my book, “Attack from Within: How Disinformation is Sabotaging America” as a Father’s Day gift. Now in paperback. www.barbaramcquade.com

If we can recognize the tactics of disinformation, we can overcome them. Please join me for this conversation with Bill Press.

With the paperback launch of “Attack from Within,” my publisher, @sevenstories.bsky.social, is sponsoring a book club challenge. You can win free copies of the book and I’ll join you for a club meeting online. Enter here: mailchi.mp/sevenstories...

Are troops bringing calm to chaos or fueling more violence in LA? I’ll talk with Tavis Smiley at noon ET, 9 am PT, on KBLA about Trump’s use of the national guard despite opposition from local officials.

Heading to Alabama to discuss my book Attack from Within: How Disinformation is Sabotaging America. 6/23, Little Professor Bookshop, Homewood with @JoyceWhiteVance.Bsky.social littleprofessorbookshop.com/products/bar... 6/24, NewSouth Bookstore, Montgomery newsouthbookstore.com/event/tuesda...

Trump activates national guard troops in LA. I’ll join Alex Witt at 3 pm ET on @MSNBC to discuss the legality and the wisdom of using the military to address immigration concerns.

Abrego Garcia indictment is a win for the rule of law. He now gets the due process he was denied by his removal. Government must prove his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt rather than just say so from a podium. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

Kilmar Abrego-Garcia returns to the United States to face charges for transporting undocumented immigrants. I'll discuss with Ali Velshi at 10:20 pm ET on @TheLast Word on @MSNBC.

Thanks to everyone who came out for my book talk at the Robert H. Jackson Center in Jamestown. The former AG, Nuremberg prosecutor and SCOTUS justice’s view of the federal prosecutor should be required reading for all DOJ lawyers. www.roberthjackson.org/speech-and-w...

As Jeopardy host Ken Jennings writes, “a practical belief in fact and error … is more fundamentally American than the toxic blend of proud ignorance and smarter-than-thou skepticism” that pervades society. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/05/o...

Thanks to @JoyceWhiteVance.Bsky.social for featuring my work to combat disinformation. See in this week’s Civil Discourse newsletter. open.substack.com/pub/joycevan...

Yes, Trump has been subjected to more nationwide injunctions than his predecessors. That’s because courts are finding that he has engaged in more lawless activity than his predecessors.

With the release of my book in paperback, my publisher is issuing the 7 Stories Book Club Challenge: book clubs that read my book can win a chance for a virtual meeting with the author (me!) More details to come. www.barbaramcquade.com

I joined @BBC Newshour radio to discuss the legality of Trump’s new travel ban. You can listen here. www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...

Trump’s words about “radical Islamic terrorists” shows a religious animus for new travel ban, but his team has obviously learned from his prior mistakes. I’ll discuss with BBC at 9 am and MSNBC at 10 am ET. www.whitehouse.gov/fact-sheets/...
