Back on this bandwagon: Abandoning OpenGL Immediate Mode was a huge mistake. It hurt education, it broke thousands of existing tutorials, and the performance overhead of Immediate Mode--even a lower-performance-than-tradition implementation in a driver--is irrelevant to e.g. indie game developers.

I agree 100%. It's one thing to criticize corporate practices, the social impact, ethics, or future risks. But I watch in total awe how it writes in a few seconds a well documented program in a language/API I don't know, while they complain "but it might have a bug and requires a pass or two" O_o

anyone looking for Pocket replacement: I found Instapaper to be virtually identical for my use-case (cross-platform, cross-device pure "read later" list, not caring about any social features or advanced bookmark collection - I do the latter in Obsidian) and so far, I'm happy with it.

When everyone jumped on the NeRF and GS hype trains, I was skeptical about rendering switching to them. Why? My take: the final rendered representation is mostly irrelevant. What matters is how you obtain it. NeRFs were a Computer Vision revolution- just optimize them from *a few views* with SGD! 1/
