I have a to-do list longer than a queue for a beachside bog on Boxing Day, but somehow I can find time for subjecting complete strangers to unsatisfyingly moderate opinions, lame jokes & nitpicks.

Oh good. The withdrawal symptoms were taking me to some weird places.

They were pretty keen on memory-holing it after the 'Leaving Neverland' doco came out. It was a bit ridiculous, especially given that they had not done this when the accusations were made public years before Jackson's death. www.theguardian.com/music/2019/m...

...And the festival of false equivalence trundles on. I'll try to explain this as simply as possible. Bad for Palpatine: Good for Trump:

'Telling your allies to not make mistakes is invalidated by your not having told your opponents to not make mistakes.'

Can we stop referring to people who walk into an obvious trap like this, & their apologists, as opponents of Trump? Clearly they're hell-bent on doing exactly what he wants. They have an emotional need for Trump's presidency just as MAGA cultists do.

Tom Nichols voted for Clinton & endorsed her in multiple articles - such as this one: archive.is/ZYojF - despite disliking her, & he willingly took a ton of shit for doing so.

Nice to see that Frank hasn't been forgotten. Now, are we going to see Mabel as well?

The mantra of 'adapt it in a way that gives it broader appeal' claims another victim.

It isn't the highest honour & it is conceivable that someone's good actions can outweigh their bad ones or can be simply treated separately. That said, it still stinks.

How DARE people live in the world that exists rather than the one that they want?!

The extravagance of Jenrick's crassness alone would be breathtaking even if he weren't determined to get himself appointed PM by the very king who is the head of state of several of the countries Jenrick described as 'enemies.' If he does roll Badenoch & win a GE, it'll be national humiliation.

A short neck is also a great asset if you ever want to be cast to play a Russian general in a film.

On the wall opposite the tills in my local supermarket there is a telephone used to reply to delivery enquiries. A landline phone. Spiral cord, etc. This evening I witnessed a teenage girl point to the phone & ask, 'What is this thing?' I felt like I'd aged 70 years in a second.

If I'm understanding this correctly, HM the King isn't counted as 'white British' because PTG was an immigrant, but someone with, say, Nigerian grandparents but whose parents were British-born is counted as 'white British.' Is that right or have I had too much dry sherry this evening?

I'm pretty sure there was a time when someone who wouldn't make way for a person entering a lift until they were asked to make way would realise that (s)he was the one being inconsiderate & possibly even apologise. And I don't think it was all that long ago.

This. 'I'm not a conspiracy theorist but I believe in a conspiracy theory,' is a hell of a declaration, especially as a minor injury caused by a bullet fragment is obviously far more plausible than a scheme of airtight secrecy involving numerous individuals of several organisations - and 2 deaths.

Bang on. Sir Keir should have told Mauritius to take a running jump the day he got the job. What was the ICJ going to do, opinion harder? Mauritius's denunciation of 'colonialism' in an effort to perpetrate it themselves is absurd, though not as much as the wailing of the Tories, who set this up.

The intensity of such men's insecurity about their masculinity could power a city, but it's still not as stunning as their willingness to broadcast to the entire world the fact that that insecurity exists. They might as well be walking around holding a sign that says 'I HAVE A MICROSCOPIC TODGER.'

By any chance are the meltdownees paying much attention to the fact that, thanks to the lettuce lady, the Conservative govt spent 2 years negotiating to give away the islands before Sir Keir became PM?

Britons living in Spain should learn Spanish because, unlike Wales, English is not a co-official language there. Raising your voice & speaking slowly while poking José in the chest will get you only so far.

I don't understand why they bother to try to cover their racism with a fig leaf that's completely transparent & utterly nonsensical.

I get the impression that the problem isn't an economic one - it's the matter of assimilation that's actually relevant, but that's a hot potato, so it's presented as an economic one.

In the same vein⬇️. It's not the same for them, chaps. If you want to make a good impression, bear that in mind.

Good lord. I can only conclude that 'The Life & Death of Colonel Blimp' (which, though it is broader than just WW2, that war is its focus) was not a film respondents had seen, because if they had there would be no other film on the list. www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGb4...
