Well here I am in the 21st Century,
Have to say it ain't as cool as I hoped it'd be.
No man on the moon, nobody on Mars,
and where the hell is my flying car?
Account focussed on farming, dogs, tractors and Putin's genocidal invasion of Ukraine.

We see the character dive into the lake, we then see firth as the character in wet clothes having got out of the lake, it's not a huge stretch for people to imagine the bit in between, the scene's shot in a way to make you do this, then 30 yrs later confuse the implied bit for actual memory

I think it's stretching things to call this the Mandela effect because the filmmaker heavily implies Firth being in the lake, it's not inventing a memory that didn't happen, it's misremembering something that did.

That's right, Firth's stunt double dives into the lake the scene then cuts to Firth walking back across the fields in a wet shirt, I'd imagine the film makers would have wanted to show Firth in the lake but couldn't for H&S reasons, so this part of the action is heavily implied via Firth's wet shirt

There is a scene where Darcy jumps into the lake, which then cuts to after he's emerged with a wet shirt on, people remembering the scene have simply filled in the bit in between where Darcy emerges from the water, "sexy character emerging from water" being quite a common film trope.

Why does no journalist ask trump what pressure he would have put on putin to prevent him starting the war in the first place, and why he doesn't exert this pressure now to make him stop.

The majority of British people: "it was a fuck-up, can we please just move forward and repair as much damage as possible."
A tiny group of very wealthy people and the British media: "Any deviation from Brexit is heresy."

Yes, though i do wonder if our leaders are up to the task in hand, recent events would suggest perhaps they are not.
But anyway, a good explanation of the complexities of the situation, thank you for engaging.

Yes, but surely European leaders also need to be making concrete steps to move Europe forward towards a future where it isn't reliant on the US for security, even if trump is replaced with someone sane in 2028, (big IF), we're still only 4 years away from the lunacy returning in some other form.

fair point, but do you think they're actually trying to navigate the situation? or just hoping trump will go away and things go back to some sort of normality?

nevertheless, the us cannot be relied upon, and a failure to accept this is a denial of reality.

Good analysis, European leaders seem unable or unwilling to accept the reality that they cannot manage trump's behaviour or rely on the US to engage with events rationally, or even in a way broadly concurrent with US/EU national interests.

such people are cowards who victim blame to try and self justify their own moral failings for supporting fascism.
