I think what's kept me from full on loving Se7en is that the script gives up on the "seven deadly sins" concept. John Doe is like "yeah, I killed this woman because she's obsessed with her beauty." Feels a bit too underbaked. And no, the film isn't commenting on Doe and his laziness.
