at no point in this piece does barro actually identify specific democratic politicians who are guilty of the sins he has accused them of.

“Democrats talk easily about how the party has gotten 'out of touch,' but they don’t draw the obvious connection about what happens when you’re out of touch: You get things substantively wrong and alienate voters with your unpopular ideas,” Josh Barro writes:

"both sides do it, even if there's only evidence for one side."
I’m sure it’s there. I just can’t see it yet because of all of the mountains of evidence blocking my view!
But I assure you, the other guys must be bad too!
The oppression* of RW and XRW apologists and propagandists posing as writers who produce fatuous and mediocre articles has expanded over the last eight years.
*My collective noun for them all.
The Republican Congress is the problem.
The Republican Congress is the problem.
The Republican Congress is the problem.
The Republican Congress is the problem.
The Republican Congress is the problem.
Turn the hose on the arsonists, not the firefighters.
They run as hard on immigrants as Republicans do: deporting many, arresting lots, denying most. The only thing they don't do is concentration camps.
What you're describing is what Republicans lie about Democrats doing
Despite that, either Biden should have held his ground or gotten out way way earlier
I do think Harris would have met this moment, left the dreadful neoliberalism of Clinton/Obama/Pelosi et al, & found social justice
Is this all part of that "both sides now" "bipartisanship" that's doing us so much good these days?
*deep sigh*
So YES, they should clean house.
Their platform sucks, their messaging sucks, their fight for voters sucks.
Chuck Schumer inspires nobody!
I don’t understand how their brains are sophisticated enough to make breathing work.
"Democrats"

He was clearly over his head then and apparently hasn’t learned anything. But then Melber is a windsock too, enamored with his hip-hop discography. Basically worthless.
Glad you are still sharp enough to be around to remind everyone of facts missed by the Newsies!
Blocked me like ZAP over at the old place.

If the 'Resistance' can't be bothered sharing this, then what hope is there?
Don't just 'like' it.
If anyone gives a fvck, then REPOSTING is what is needed!!!
FFS people!
He does have an excellent recipe for lamb though.
We lost a lot of working class people with the “ birthing person” stuff.
We can chew gum, and walk at the same time folks.
This was not a hill to die on.
Peace.
There is a space for a person to identify as a pregnant woman, and a space for a person to identify as a pregnant person.
When we insist on a single orthodoxy we lose voters.
I am not defending him (I disagreed with much of it) but just thought one commenter should have read the article.
(no one else ya hear! Not us! Nope, Not us either!)
Thanks for calling out the propagandists set to rip out the middle.
'Without the middle democracy will collapse'
Recent writing has me reevaluating this subscription money which might be better employed with folks who are actually helping, rather than those pretending to.
A. Not true about crime rates
B. What the hell does “disorder” mean and how does Barro measure it?

Either that, or he’s just reliving the resentment and unresolved grudges of his college years. Or all of the above.
Republicans aren't responsible for the actions of the President of the United States.
When Republicans lose elections, Democrats must reach across the aisle and seek compromise by passing the losing republican platform.
It turns out you need to fight like it’s a war.
But- Women appear to not be able to get as many votes.
I hate that this is also a factor.
Worse- we get BLAMED FOR IT
Fuck this narrative. Anyone with legit criticism for the Dems shouldn't start with "we got too woke", cause it's a fake arguement.
"We cared too much, that's why we lost" is just bullshit.
no, wait, the exact opposite
If there’s anything that’s truly disappointing about this era of intellectual/political discourse is that most of its operators are mediocre hacks.
i've noticed bad actors who are specifically attempting to sow discord within the Democratic party. at the very least exacerbating the division. when people refuse to work together, nothing gets accomplished.
