Don't hear much about an Aged Care crisis anymore, right? Remember when Labor said it would have reg nurses 24/7 in residential aged care? Reg nurses now available over 90% of the time. Remarkable. #auspol

Thoroughly decent bloke

“Prof Don Rothwell: Trump’s idea would represent a crime against humanity, with the forced removal of Palestinian children possibly constituting genocide under the Genocide Convention. Additionally, the US clearly has no legal right to control Palestinians in Gaza.” www.smh.com.au/world/middle...

Excellent by @janfran.bsky.social. "...that’s the same Ita Buttrose who, as we discovered on day one of the Federal Court trial, wished COVID upon Antoinette and claimed to “owe her nothing” despite being her employer."

In a cost-of-living crisis, with a federal election looming, we need the Liberal Party to tell us exactly what it plans on tax reform - and how taxpayer-funded long lunches will help our stagnant productivity.

The AEU welcomes the announcement that the Commonwealth Government will lift their commitment to a full 25% of the Schooling Resource Standard (SRS) by 2034, with states expected to get rid of the 4% accounting trick brought in by the Morrison Government in 2018. #auspol bit.ly/4h6e4TV

Ah @firstdogonthemoon.bsky.social...laugh/cry. Exciting news! The world is on track to have more than 1.5 degrees of warming and five trillionaires www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

The professional whingers on here oft posting from a lovely home, talking about how shit the Labor party is, should take this moment to evaluate. Our options for PM are Albo or Dutton, with a belligerent US being a major ally. The Govt departed from US in the UN at the end of last year to shrieks

I am once again asking voters in Australia to consider if the "good" billionaire donors are actually good or just buying their way into politics and maybe if the independents can figure out a way to campaign on $800k so we can continue having a democracy.

Open to marrying someone from America (ew) if they buy me a house here in Australia, If you get in quick while the dollar is still good you can probably buy me a nice suburban with a pool.

The amazing thing about Peter Dutton's claim here is that while he make it sound like a difficult task, this would actually be a slower roll-out than what was likely achieved in Australia 2024. A quick thread with numbers:

Peter Dutton has just announced free lunches for business leaders but he does not support free TAFE for everyone else. It seems he has no problem with tax payer funded free stuff so long as it’s just for bosses.

Imagine still believing that America is the land of the free when they’re doing this to a journalist at a press conference

I really wish journalists would frame lying in politics as a weakness, as a sign of a lost argument, as morally wrong, as unfair on voters, as manipulative and bad for democracy, rather than the way it is currently presented - as a cunning political strategy.

From @aljazeera.com Blinken seems to be trying his best to derail ceasefire talks by being a complete freak. US strategic gains of the backs of at LEAST tens of thousands dead and maimed.

“Report by Jack Smith says evidence ‘was sufficient to obtain and sustain a conviction’ had Trump not won re-election in 2024” - or had Garland not dragged his feet on this whole thing!!
