It certainly looks like Thiero makes Vando redundant - Thiero can guard 1-4, while also being a threat from the dunker's spot, which Vando is not. I don't see a way to give them both minutes.

But yes, the chances of him having a long career and a key role on a good team are dependent on him becoming at least an adequate shooter. But let’s not forget that Alex Caruso couldn’t shoot either when he first got in the league, but he carved out a valuable role by being *that guy* on defense.

Thiero can’t shoot yet either, but his tape and his stats (45 dunks this season alone) would seem to indicate that in small ball lineups you could play him in the dunker’s spot and he could be effective. And his ability to guard 1-4 (due to his build) makes him more valuable than Vando as well.

One of the main issues with playing Vando during the playoffs is that you can’t put him in the corner b/c his shot isn’t a threat, but you also can’t play him in the dunker’s spot, because he’s not explosive enough to take a dump-off and finish through contact.

The difference between Thiero and Vando would seem to be athleticism. Vando is a good athlete in most respects (i.e. he’s fast, agile, etc), but he’s not explosive off the floor and he’s pretty terrible at finishing while absorbing contact. Whereas Thiero is probably the best athlete in this draft.

Median Herbert Jones lite: multi-positional defender with transition value and just enough offensive utility Floor Torrey Craig: strong, athletic wing who defends multiple positions and makes hustle plays" You could not describe a better 2nd round pick for what this team so desperately needs

Every time I've heard him in any sort of casual, long-form interview, he's seemed like a pretty normal, chill dude who definitely resides on the nerdy side, so this seems entirely consistent with that (other than he creates his own themes? Kinda explains where Gracie gets her talent from!)

And @canyondriver.bsky.social had him as #13 on his board! (look at me becoming an aggregator 🤣)

KOC (formerly of the Ringer)'s draft guide said he is" a slasher with a jacked frame and an explosive first step, but he has severe limitations on offense as a shooter. If he’s able to figure out the shot then his length and versatility would make him a classic 3-and-D role player."

The Athletic: might be the best athlete in the draft. Remarkably explosive and powerfully built. Has potential to be a high-end defensive player. Monster in transition. Motor doesn't stop. Offensive side needs a lot of work. Sam Vecenie had him ranked 31, John Hollinger had him 25.

6'8, 220, 7' wingspan. Looks like the defensive wing we need. The Ringer described him as a "Switchable forward who is perpetually shot out of a cannon and is able to sprinkle value across the stat sheet", and a "chaos agent with a sky-high steal percentage and an appetite for deflections."

I had to look up Yooper, so thanks for letting me learn a new term! 🤣 Regional accents are fine and normal and expected, but what's "jarring" to me is how exaggerated Kennedy's is now vs what it was 20 years ago.

TBH, that’s been a huge 🚩 🚩 🚩 for me about Trump since day 1. He clearly hates dogs (and women) given his frequent insults about both.

But I fear they will instead lean entirely into their "let them eat cake" policies, which will further the class divide and make a (violent) class uprising even more likely. Hope I'm wrong, obviously.

Seriously, he sounds like Foghorn Leghorn in public hearings, but there’s plenty of video of him from earlier times where he sounds *way* different. It’s clearly an affect for his constituents.

I really can’t see The Stand as a single movie. It’s just too dense. However, given Liman’s relationship with Tom Cruise…. maybe he can leverage that to casting him as Flagg? That could be incredible.
