Learning that Trump's concentration camp commandant Bukele may have "diverted USAID funds to MS-13 as part of [a] secret deal" is classic "shocked but not surprised" situation.

Trump: "Russia fought with us in WWII and everybody hates them. And Germany and Japan, they're fine — some day somebody will explain that...Everybody hates Russia and they love Germany and Japan...It's a strange world."

New analysis from the Congressional Budget Office on the distributional impacts of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. After the tax cuts, spending cuts and other impacts, average household resources will decline for the lowest earners and rise substantially for the highest earners.

It adds 2.4 trillion dollars to the national debt Thank you for your attention to this matter.

WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS?

Savvy pundit: The more the LA protesters command news cycles, the more they alienate the hypothetical voters in my head. Real voters:

NEW FROM CBO: brutal distributional analysis of House GOP "Big Beautiful Bill" On avg the bottom 30% of households get poorer under the GOP bill Avg gets little - and are worse off if you include tariffs This'd be the largest transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich in a single law in history

Passing Big Beautiful Bill Would Mean ‘Effectively Dismantling’ Obamacare, Gutting Inflation Reduction Act talkingpointsmemo.com/news/passing...

Asshole president should stop invading Los Angeles for no reason, sorry to sound partisan

Me: man, I’m sick of the troops being here The troops: we are also sick of this weird armed vacation we’re taking without funds for food or water

I have posted a lot recently about my worries for the NWS. However, I am also increasingly worried that the threat to NWS is distracting from the even greater threat to the rest of NOAA. Tonight I wrote about the broader agency I am so proud to have been a part of. open.substack.com/pub/balanced...

From the article: “In other words, someone with an established track record of ignoring reality made the unilateral, ideological decision to gut one of the most trusted and effective pillars of America’s vaccine infrastructure.” #publichealth #defendresearch #defendresearch #sciencenotsilence

Maybe they really were ICE officers. Or maybe they were a band of vigilantes, arbitrarily snatching brown-looking people off the street. All eyes are now on LA, but secret police are descending upon smaller towns nationwide too. Masked and armed, they refuse to show IDs or warrants. wapo.st/4kIGFke

The president of the United States in our time is not supposed to wield armed troops and even station marines on American soil because of political speech and assembly he doesn’t like, that is typically not allowed and no I don’t care if any of it is technically “legal”

There is no deal Thank you for your attention to this matter

Yeah if I thought there was even a 5% chance of being renditioned to Gitmo or El Salvador for the crime of leaving my passport at the hotel, I would simply not travel. This is going to kill tourism.

Our vaccine policy will now literally be determined by regular guests to the Joe Rogan podcast

He did know.

Trump underwater in literally every single issue. 38% approval overall. 27% approval on his spending bill. 40% approval on deportations. Musk also at 30% approval. 38% approval for RFK Jr. 35% approval for JD Vance. Nobody fucking wants any of this. poll.qu.edu/poll-release...

This is the most dangerous thing Trump has done since taking office and the silence from Senate Armed Services Chair Roger Wicker and House Chair Mike Rogers is deafening, and a betrayal of their duty to the military and the Republic.

RIP big dog

After campaigning on a claim that he would deport undocumented immigrants with a criminal record—a policy that has broad support—Trump is now increasingly arresting persons with no criminal record of any kind.

It can happen here. It is happening here.

It’s insane watching a police and military state being formed in real time and media discussing this as a political issue. These same journalists and pundits should go live in Russia to get a taste of a police state

Really important story - army officials asked soldiers to identify themselves if they don't agree with Trump's politics that way he'd get only supportive soldiers in uniform during his political rally on base. Heavier soldiers were also barred from participating.

It is only one poll but if polls keep showing a consistent “in the 30s “ range for Trump’s approval, that is maybe the greatest cause for even a glimmer of hope about the humanity of a collapsing empire

My favourite one like this is Don Henley getting Brian to autograph a copy of Pet Sounds. Brian signed it "thanks for all the great music" then thought for a second, crossed out "great", and wrote "good"

Fully protected cops throwing unarmed people to the ground, keeping the peace as always

Have you ever seen a lil man so obsessively concerned about his masculinity? Even worrying that his food is “effete” 🤣 SO PATHETIC

It's not that I don't enjoy the world's richest asshole groveling, it's just that I wish it wasn't to the world's most powerful one.

BREAKING: A few minutes ago, a vehicle of three people was rammed by a truck belonging to federal immigration authorities in Boyle Heights, CA. According to security footage shown to me, they deployed chemical munitions & detained the driver at gunpoint. All are US citizens according to the wife.

Can you imagine a single American President before Trump saying this? I can't. Not even the worst of them.

My parents are well acquainted with military parades from their time in the Soviet Union. I asked my mother what she thought of Trump having one on his birthday. She replied "at least the communists did it on national holidays to pretend it was for us."

I feel sick to my stomach. DC right now. #nokings

👇🎯 Even now, as the full mask-off nature of the fascism is revealed, our most prominent media outlets are completely unable and unwilling to stop following their totally broken playbook of “normal politics” theater criticism & framing. Entirely predictable, but no less sad for being so.

Yes, this was the idea

Another program that can and should be targeted by foreign governments interested in poaching value from the United States as we self-destruct. You can't easily replicate the Fulbright program but a start would be targeting of the scholars unceremoniously cut loose by this administration.

Waiting for the big outlets to put two and two together and realize that police whose identities are secret and facilities are secret are secret police.

SEWELL: The last question that I was asked to ask you is when will hit the debt ceiling? BESSENT: I want to congratulate you. You have a very sophisticated constituency to ask questions like this SEWELL: With all due respect, just because you're poor doesn't mean you're ignorant

Honestly, I don't care about Rs and Ds anymore. When Tulsi Gabbard and RFK Jr are conservative folk heroes and Joe Walsh and Judge Luttig are "radical leftists", those labels mean nothing.

Oklahoma receives about $3 billion more in federal spending than it pays in federal taxes. That's nearly $8,000 per Oklahoman--only 9 states have a higher per capita balance of payments. Subsidies from MA, NJ, WA, CA, and a few others are how OK remains a "low tax state."

Re-upping. No reason.

My work here is done

The collapse of corporate media in the face of Trump is something to behold.

The pro-crypto GENIUS Act was tied up thanks to the return of traditional Senate legislating. Then, senators "came to the realization that they didn’t actually want to be lawmakers if it meant that a source of future campaign donations might get mad at them." prospect.org/politics/202...
