A nice margined calligrapher fly from my last bug observation outing. One of my favorites to take pictures of since they’re usually quite tolerant of my phone hovering over them. Getting over a cold and hoping I’ll feel better enough tomorrow to go out again! #entomology

Had the realization today that “eat the crust! It’s the most nutritious part!” was just a white lie parents said so kids would eat the whole piece of bread. How can it be the most nutritious part if bread starts as a homogenous ball of dough..? I am 32 and just now putting this together omg

Used my free will to feed some pigeons. I wanted to feed them healthy stuff so I bought some bird treats (oat groats?) from a pet store. Sprinkled them in a grassy area with some pigeons. A few came up, pecked around, and then looked at me as if to say “wtf, don’t you have any salty bread??” 😅

New-to-me garden visitor. A very tiny lady beetle found on the leaf of a thistle with a lot of aphid activity. #inaturalist suggested the genus psyllobora. Maybe Psyllobora vigintimaculata? If so that would be pretty cool! #entomology
