Making some progress today. Acrylic on panel, 18x23cm. Not titled yet. Sometimes the title shows up even before the image, sometimes they arrive together, and sometimes I find the title only in the panicked moment of packing a picture for a show.

Sophie Scholl along with her brother Hans and a group of friends wrote, printed and distributed leaflets of the White Rose urging Germans to passively resist the Nazis. They were all executed. The first in my RESIST series is finished.

I needed a break from Eartha’s feathers. I’m getting some close to finishing Sophie.

Moving right along. It’s amazing what getting some sleep does for me.

I’m filling in the rest of the feathers.

Eartha’s feathers are really time consuming. I’ll just keep alternating with the Sophie portrait.

Sophie’s a bit heavy and I’m going to need more pieces for my exhibit in October so I’m going to work on Eartha’s feathers for a bit.

Happy 99th birthday to the man who gave voice to the wild. 🎉 Sir David Attenborough, thank you for a lifetime dedicated to the natural world, and for sharing its story with wisdom, wonder, and grace. You've inspired generations to fall in love with nature.

I got a couple hours in at my easel.

No matter how bad you imagine smallpox was, it was worse than that.

The first portrait in my RESIST series is Sophie Scholl who with her brother Hans and a group of friends wrote, printed and distributed leaflets of the White Rose urging Germans to passively resist the Nazis.

I did some work getting the raised garden bed ready for planting, cooked a meal, took food and quarters to my 82 year old neighbor and got some work done on the Sophie Scholl portrait.

I decided to use black tissue paper for the background and will be adding excerpts from books about the White Rose.

I took the Bowie portrait over to the library next door for hanging prior to the meet the artist sneak peek event May 8th. Just that 1200 or so steps left the nerves in my legs screaming. I’m still going to try for at least 2500 steps.

I haven’t slept well the last three nights. Today I was pretty fried so not much got done. I did some research while waiting on some materials for the White Rose portraits. I’ll see how tomorrow goes.

Dear Canada, Way to go!

This is the 1st in my Resist series. Sophie Scholl, her brother Hans and a group of friends printed and distributed The Leaflets of the White Rose urging Germans to passively resist the Nazis. They were executed.

Bowie is finished.

I think I’ll have Bowie done this weekend. Which leaves me time to get a few coats of varnish on before the sneak peek event at the library May 8.

Heya all! One last post before I finally call this piece finished :) Thank you all for accompanying me with this, it means a lot! If anybody has any last minute advice/suggestions, I’m all ears! I appreciate any reposts I can get before the final post! <3 #traditionalart #art #stippling #ink
