they lost a lot of my respect last year with how registration was handled. they very narrowly avoided at least one crowd crush, possibly more, and huge heat risks by underestimating the fuck out of attendance. hospitality industry contacts had accurate numbers... so why didn't anthrocon?

hardcore cracking down on it being a family friendly con (even just before 8-9 PM) would cull numbers really, really well. but they'd rather pull shit like the parade ban than risk offending people that really, probably should not be public facing outside of a con center anyway.

AC is a massive missed opportunity. the publicity isn't even good, they won't actually enforce family friendly/public safety policies so it doesn't do any good. people get shitfaced by the waterfront and puke at 2 PM, and there's fetish suits + nudity around pretty much as soon as gates open.
