A sitting member of Congress demanding the government strip citizenship from a political opponent. That should scare the hell out of everyone. You don’t get more authoritarian than that.

I fear it’s been awhile since the U.S. can reasonably be called the most developed country in the world… wealthiest, sure, but it hasn’t been spending that money on infrastructure for a long time, and while still innovative, others have caught up

They gave their power away on the budget, too, more or less... I mean almost all of DOGE's decisions were reportedly budgetary, and without Congressional approval beforehand

Maybe, but today there are lots of prominent politicians and public figures out there with credible accusations of sex crimes who seem to be getting away with it

Yes, this! Democrats should offer a clear, alternative, progressive vision rather than trying to find a middle ground. In the middle they lose progressive votes and still get called socialists by the right. But they try that strategy again and again
