We enjoyed the first one, so it was easy to choose to go again
Stockholm first night makes the ferry option sane

Most odd. I use the client on Android without problems
OTOH my lists seem to have vanished

And in about 3 weeks, we'll check into the Hotel Arkipelag in Mariehamn. With a night in Stockholm first

Happily ours was staffed, though we're now in a Tim Hortons because check-in itself doesn't open for another 3 hours

It would be interesting if California deducted the reductions from the sum it collects for the federal government

Here's hoping you've escaped. When Tâf had started in on it, I expected the worst

Taskmaster is a weird idea. But when it works, it's brilliant

It's a shame they didn't rebuild it. OTOH I understand they were a little distracted at the time

As of 13:03 their live feed now mentions it. But it's pretty carefully done
"Musk has escalated this feud even further, suggesting without evidence in a new post on X that Trump appears in unreleased files held by the government related to late billionaire sex offender Jeffrey Epstein."
&c.

We were next to the Celebrity Summit. As we had been in Seward. And they're close behind us as we head down to Vancouver
OOC why were you around Ketchikan anyway? It's not the largest place

Ah, yes, we did go to Valdez. The destruction of old Valdez in the earthquake was what we really picked up there
Of course there's a whole bundle of places that aren't ports that we didn't go to, that I'm sure you know well, and some that are ports that weren't on our route

Damn. We saw a perfectly cute corgi yesterday, watching his/her owners eating at a street stall. He had a yellow ribbon round his neck saying "Please don't feed me"
I meant to take a picture for you

Also, what type of chillies? That can be relevant!

We had an Indian themed meal on board a couple of days ago, and it was good. It's just that they set the heat settings for the American majority on board. The Pork Vindaloo was nice, but by Anglo-Irish standards it was barely warm
The chief chef did point out that heat was supposedly not the point

I love that Gabe and Sabine (who you sort of know?) have kids that speak English and, at school, Irish, but when they've done something wrong, it's suddenly German that the parents use

Ah, fair enough. We'd been in Kodiak the previous day, and that's one of the ferry-only ones. But yeah, the spit in Homer is quite something for that
Also of course, it's not just a different state, it's a different country when driving out of AK. As for us now, next port is Vancouver

Inside or outside? I imagine most people can manage the former

Being reliably wrong is a valuable trait. There are reviewers like that: I'll read them, knowing that the review will tell me what something is when reading/viewing/whatever

*snigger*
We were in Homer a few days ago, and that town has just the Sterling Highway heading out, as Catie would probably testify
OTOH a number of places in Alaska are on islands, like Ketchikan today, and if you end up in the wrong state from there, you have taken a ship

My sympathies. I've had it once, and it was miserable
(Also I couldn't visit my mother in hospital for obvious reasons)

We went up it in March, and there were some steam plumes back then. And fsck is that a walk up. My legs have only just recovered

It's quite a long walk up to that bar/shop though. The funicular hasn't been there for decades
On the other hand, there are Ingress portals up there

I didn't. But then I think I had actually been taught how to use maps, and that does help. I recall being in the south of France. I'd look at the road atlas, go "I need to go to xxx, then yyy and on to zzz". I'd toss it on the back seat, and not use it again that day
But I find SatNavs are good too

My left thumb to my right forearm? Yeah, no problem
Oh wait ...
My best, and not so much anymore, was being able to clasp my hands behind my back, one going over my shoulder

You didn't so much file off the serial number as swap the last two digits. But it was so geographically close to Peter & Diane's place that it really resonated
Diane's place now, I suppose. I've spent decades thinking of them as a pair. Damn

They're really great if you know Dublin, or in later volumes, various other parts of Ireland. In the latest one I identified the actual country house. Except it *wasn't* actually supposed to be it
(It was invented, but it corresponded so well with an actual existing place that I thought it was it)

Back in March, we took just the one Metro (GdN to GdL) but 5 actual trains to get to Chur in one day. That was a bit ambitious in terms of margins
