I acknowledge and keenly feel how scary it is right now for queer folks. But I'm not gonna flinch from a dollar store bigot in prefrosh drag. Grow up.

This anthology has so many of my favorite people in it. Thanks for highlighting it, Joanne! πŸ’š

Imagine here that I didn't write "comparatively easy compared to..." like a noob. I hate editing on my phone (grumble, grumble)

Learning the mechanics of writing is comparatively easy compared to learning the importance (and practice!) of creative momentum. Writing classes force you to keep moving, which is tremendously helpful, but it's not the only path to a muscular creativity.

Ideas are wind, you can harness them for power, but you can't keep 'em. Years ago my mom got stuck lamenting a fragment of a story she lost in a computer crash; it derailed her creative practice. I was in high school and by then, I'd already wrote & discarded two half novels. (awful novels)

No lies detected. The people worried about tone haven't sat through incalculable hours of people pitching their passion projects only to get defensive when you point out they seem to be sorely lacking in... uh... passion. Ha. Sorry. I'm also mean and condescending about this subject. 🫣

Hiya! Great talk on consistency and sticking to the thing despite difficulties! As a maker of things it always bugs me when people tell me they have Big Ideas, but have zero record of committing to anything! Leave me alone and go work on it for a year! πŸ™ƒ

There was a moment in that book that I had to set the book down and go "damn, that's spicy!" and I'm an accomplished smutster! πŸ₯΅ I love how it manages to be tense, horny, cozy, mystical, and grounded in one book. Easy recommendation.

You CANNOT be teasing us with sequel ideas if you don't intend to finish us off, Brent. πŸ₯΅πŸ˜€

Tamara JerΓ©e's (@tamarajeree.bsky.social)'s "The Fall That Saved Us" is sexy queer speculative fiction. It'll get your core temperature up a few degrees. And I'd be a fool not to mention Brent Lambert's (@brentclambert.bsky.social) "A Necessary Chaos" which is an instant recommend.
