Book bans that discriminate against a protected group (gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, etc.) are now officially illegal in Oregon libraries. The new law also provides technical support for librarians facing inappropriate book challenges. So proud of this AABB win!

THIS is the kind of collusion they care about?! Not protecting the public from monopolies, but protecting businesses that want to cash in on hate. I know America has always had distinct definitions of freedom, but the side that favors the freedom to hate and harm your neighbors is winning. Has won?

Excellent! I got really behind on the team-building this year, incorrectly assuming people who had participated in the past would be likely to do so again. I learned I have to rebuild the team every year. We'll have a bigger team next year!

Similarly, the quality of their writing is merely a measure of what is common. They're basically Turing Tests of what an average writer produces. As I tell students, if they aspire to average, that is as far as ChatGPT can take them.
