Book bans that discriminate against a protected group (gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, etc.) are now officially illegal in Oregon libraries. The new law also provides technical support for librarians facing inappropriate book challenges.

Excellent! I got really behind on the team-building this year, incorrectly assuming people who had participated in the past would be likely to do so again. I learned I have to rebuild the team every year. We'll have a bigger team next year!

Similarly, the quality of their writing is merely a measure of what is common. They're basically Turing Tests of what an average writer produces. As I tell students, if they aspire to average, that is as far as ChatGPT can take them.
