At what point in the match did you dare think ‘we’re going to do this!’ Second question: do you have a personal highlight or moment from the match/trip to Lisbon you’ll always associate with this triumph?

We just don’t attack the box with enough conviction. So many times there were deflections, half clearances that were set up nicely but we just don’t anticipate those chances or have enough bodies in and around the box to make something of them.

2 of our last 4 are Liverpool away and Newcastle at home, we really should be caring about getting 3 points against palace at home if we want to keep 2nd…

Feel we’re just a bit careless with the final action in attack. Need to start testing their goalkeeper a bit more in the second half.

Any chance this one will be moved to the emirates given the men are playing away on that day?

They love a vanity project

Think those demands are just a way to deter other suitors until Barcelona come calling. Though with raphinha and lamal do they even need him anymore?

How is he still on the pitch?!?

Yep, this feels like the long famed ‘market opportunity’.

Not quite is a bit of an understatement. We’ve built a forward line of players who’re more used to being supporting characters than being the stars.

Cup semi final and none of our summer acquisitions get on the pitch. Just feels like we blew our opportunity to do something big this season.

I’d love him but don’t think he’s remotely an arteta player.

Felt very Squillaci to me

Quite surprising considering he featured the most for us that out of him/ESR/Reiss Eddie’s been the most underwhelming for his new club.

I dread to think what we’d do without saka. Need some of the other forwards to step up..

Fantastic news! Massive congratulations, guys!

We do need a bit of the old Arsene Wenger ‘buy all the number 10s’ attitude to the transfer market to address some of the squad’s current attacking imbalances. I’d be very happy if he joined in January.

Old habits die hard for some, hopefully most will get over it in time though. You’re great and thanks for being such a legend!

Think his career took a bit of a nosedive the last few years and he’s become more desperate the more he’s tried to cling onto any sort of relevancy.

The plan is get a good fee for him next summer.

Have we found our Rafa replacement in Steph Catley? Also interested in hearing your thoughts on Frida Maanum, are we rediscovering the player we had a couple of seasons ago?

The confidence and composure in this second half is just lovely to see.

Is the debt related purely to the takeover or were these issues also present under Aulas?

Mate, I think you did a great job and it was nice to hear an honest discussion on refereeing that didn’t descend into hyperbole/insults. Good on you and Nathan for putting together a really good episode.

Great work as usual. Do you get the impression this is an appointment that will be made quickly or will it take longer (3+ months)?

The football news and content was the only thing keeping me on twitter. I’m really hoping I’ll soon never have to open that app again…

I imagine he’d be from the Thierry Henry school of captaincy, unable to hide his annoyance at team mates not at his level.

What’s your guess on what will happen with Arteta’s charge? My feeling is they’re waiting to deliver the maximum impact (i.e. have him out of the Liverpool game)
