I've had multiple computers from System76 and they're all good. Framework is good too (I have one!).

This seems like it is fixable, if there is money and motivation. There's tons of money floating around, so I suspect that the motivation is not there.
The energy cost of LLMs seems to me like a much bigger problem that is fundamentally much harder to fix.

I think if I were called Portnoy I would probably refrain from prominently complaining about anything.

I think that Windows won't rename over an open file, though. (But this is just from memory and I haven't used Windows in decades now.)

I doubt it. I'm pretty sure that's why Windows needs to reboot to upgrade almost anything (to allow files to be replaced when it's guaranteed they won't already be open).

Now don't get me wrong, a peaceful society needs police of various kinds.
But the folks enforcing laws at home ought to show their faces, wear bright, friendly colors, with clearly visible badges and names and ideally funny hats.
They're not soldiers and should not be allowed to pretend otherwise.

OK, for my current #coffee beans, 1/2 c. weighs 33 g. These beans grind faster: about 20 seconds for the amount I use for a cup.
Further experiments will have to wait until I finish this bag and buy another.
I fully expect that I'll get followup comments criticizing my choice of beans :-)

My grinder has a hopper in it, so I just flip the switch and wait for a sufficient amount to come out. I'll try weighing my target 3 tbsp, though, across different bags of beans.

I am more the simpleton type. I just use my kitchen timer to predict how long I need to grind to get 3 tbsp of grounds, and it varies from 20 to 30 seconds depending on the beans, hence my interest :-)
