California tenants living outside Alameda and Contra Costa counties should call Tenants Together at 888-495-8020 for counseling (both for responding to evictions and for general assistance).

If a landlord threatens eviction for ANY reason, *immediately* email [email protected] with the subject line "I AM BEING EVICTED" so we can help. Because of extremely unfair legal deadlines for (even illegal) evictions, it's crucial to react ASAP. Do NOT wait to use our clinic for evictions.

Contact Emergency Tenant Organizing Committee (ETOC), a @demsocialists.bsky.social Housing Justice Commission project; next training’s Jun 7!
Unlike most places we passed a law 4 legally-enforceable right-to-unionize; unionizing’s much harder wo that, so ETOC’ll be more helpful resource 2 u than us

In addition to priority sign-up for our counseling clinics, membership benefits include voting on endorsements and other membership matters, as well as being the first to find out about the monthly clinic and other services.

If you would prefer to pay dues by cash or check (which lets BTU avoid paying a transaction fee), you can email [email protected] to have someone come pick up your dues in-person. (We'll do so in a way that follows appropriate COVID-19 safety precautions.)

You can join BTU/pay your dues by going to berkeleytenants.org and clicking the yellow "Donate" button in the upper-right corner. Dues are a sliding scale of just $10 - $27 per year; however, those who can afford to pay more are strongly encouraged to do so.

Please note we only have a very limited number of spots available at our counseling clinics, so priority is given to BTU members (see below for how to join or renew your dues), followed by sign-up order.

Please note this April 19 canvass is being held in lieu of an April 20 membership meeting; we're cancelling that membership meeting because it conflicts with multiple holidays (including Easter).
